Title: kastan with uni-blade
Post by: JJR on April 11, 2009, 07:11 PM
Just picked up this Kastan Pro cruiser with uni-blade.
I've only seen 2 Kastans here in Belgium (mini and mini cruiser from one and the same kid) but not with a uni-blade fork.
Think this one is a rare bike in Europe.
I like the design bitd and still like it today.
Were there any in the UK?
BTW i'm still looking for a Hutch Judge frame and fork.
So if someone want to trade.....

Reardropout 000428
and on the BB 503247 with a oval logo , redline i think but can't read it because the paint.
What does this mean?
Supose it's a very early one, numer 428 made maybe?

Very cool. Although I don't trust the whole 1 fork blade idea myself - that's a great bike for your collection.

From what I know about Kastan, if your paint is original it's probably an 89 or 90..The serial numbers aren't a great indication, but the 000428 may mean it's an early one, and the red is an early colour too.....Nice find.

Cool bike from one of the Gods of BMX, Mr Linn Kastan. He started a little firm called Redline and later helped design the 1st Hoffman Condor 8)

I know these forks were eventually recalled but I don't know why the idea freaks people out, cars, planes, motorbike swingarms, it's not unusual to have the wheel only supported from one side.

Nice find BTW mate, sweet ride.

they did a 2nd fork which had a strut or something, which were marginally stronger, alledgedly

The first fork legs were left over Redline legs

Wasn't it the axle/hub that was the problem with these? I remember sombody finding one of these a few years ago but the axle/hub was also missing on that  one so they binned it! :(
