Title: salt licking
Post by: BENDYCAT ELEVENTEEN on April 12, 2009, 03:16 PM
Got a wheel from a new school KHE  with salt hub - now i would like to take out the axle ! but when youm take the nuts off, it seem to be still in there and not want to shift ???

does it come out ? or is it stuck in there for life ! - don't want to hit it hard to move it, so i don't destroy it - but will it come out with a knock ?

so does any one who's delt with them before know how to deal with this ?

cheers B  ;)

I would bet it will come out with a little tap with a hammer, but soak it in something like WD40 first & use some wood or a soft hammer.

Yeah it will come out with a tap, as has been said use a soft hammer or wood or if you have an old nut screw it on the axle and tap the nut to prevent damaging the axle.

If in doubt give it a clout. It will come out, like said before put the nut on to protect the threads. I stripped one the other week, held the hub in my hand and hit the axle  :idiot2:
De-annod and polished it

Right as i had some people reply to my thread, i  figured that i had some names to blame if things went tits up  ;D

well gave it a gental knock with a nut on the thread and a bit of rubber over the top just incase - well nothing with a gental tap ? - so then a bit more of a hit with the hammer - bang ! the bearing came out - the axle has a bit each end inside to stop the bearing going any further each way

so it's out and sorted - cheers boys  ;)
