Title: 1 1/8" headtube + 1" fork in GT - what now?
Post by: 20to26 on April 18, 2009, 07:12 PM
I established this afternoon that my '94 GT Pro Series Team frame has a 11/8" headtube. The fork I have in the the frame is 1" threaded. There was a headset fitted as you can see in the pic but the bearings didn't fit snugly and turning was a dog - so I tried to fit a nice OS GT headset - BUT the cups are too narrow... ???

Are headsets for 1" threaded forks available to fit 1 1/8" headtubes? or do I just need large bearing races?

Anybody got some savvy advice please.

thanks.

I had this problem when I had a similar frame - you need to get down you local bike shop and get a shim that a 1" headset fits in !
