Title: Filing Axles
Post by: Swivel on April 27, 2009, 04:25 PM
Guys, my rear dropouts on my TRM are very narrow, so I need to file down the axle. What advice can you give to prevent me from fooking it up? Never done it before and i'm a bit nervous as I need these wheels for the 3rd of May ride.

Thanks in advance,

Matt  :daumenhoch:

i used a square file around 6mm wide     i put a nut on as wide as the file and filed between  that way i wouldnt slip and damage the other threads
even put 2 nuts on to lock it.

if you haven't got a square file you could always use a flat file and use the non "safe edge".

Are they sealed bearing hubs or loose ball, might have an axle lying around you can have?
