afternoon all, I just scored these cranks for £99, are they Prince Alberts, I think they are the 4th Gen ones:

also for my £99 I had to have all this other sh1te attached to them, which is a bit of a bind, but I'll live with it. :daumenhoch:
Can't spot a serial number on this where should it be?

Super pro front, super pro rear rim on a female threaded hub, G-sport? Redneck, Pitchforks? Slams.
seat and post are in need of replacing, the seat post clamp is a bit strange, big and bulky.
Profile chain ring and some JP pedals.

ill have the super pros if you wanna sell them :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:

-

That just what i'd have said... :LolLolLolLol:
Nice score JT
Rear hub does look like a Gsport hub, and those early clamp on rednecks are rare... :daumenhoch:

Something somebody made for a metalwork class project?! Never seen anything like that before :LolLolLolLol: My first thoughts were that it was part of an old school bolt on platform thing but there's nowhere for a platform to go through it, get it off there asap & weigh it in, must be worth something in scrap!
That's an awesome buy there :daumenhoch: Not sure they are pa's but I may be wrong.
-
Looks like somethin to hold scafolding together ;D
Steve.
-
been trying to compare them to Alex's pictures but can;t tell.
maybe the cranks are more like the gen 2s than gen 4s?
-
They don't look as beefy as the 4th gens, can you take the crank bolt out/take arm off to see what type of splines it's got, might give a clue?

good idea, I'll do that tomorrow. :daumenhoch:
-
Nice one. Did you get the whole bike for £99 or just the cranks

I was thinking just the same. Id guess at mk2s :daumenhoch:

the complete bike mate, £99...well I let him keep the £1 change, so £100. :daumenhoch:
-
£99! flipping bargain! I'd love a Dirtbike, probibly the next bike on my list?... we'll see...
-
:yahoo_silent: im sulking.....
good buy there mate. :smitten:
-
okay, the cranks have a profile style axle, 48 spline, so not 2nd gen, but not chunky enough for 4th gen, but too oval for 3rd gens.
mmmmmmmmmmm. so now not sure. anyone (by anyone I mean Alex, lol) have an ideas how I can be sure.
also found the serial on my Dirt Bike, though the stickers look like they've been applied later...but by an amateur.
the frame has an old school style 22.2mm seat post but has 1 1/8" forks and an aheadset set up.
is this normal? if so what year is the frame
-
the 22.2mm seatpost and 1/18th aheadset is correct, this is the same as my 1/18th holmes, as for year i think it should be from around 96 as its more than likely its a early 1/18th one due to the square edged redneck and the pitchforks have the same dropouts as the 1in ones not the later 1/18th ones which go underneath the fork leg
-
bang on. i think the cranks can be gen 2 with a profile style spindle.
-
From those pics i would say that isn't a gsport hub. The mk1's had a smooth contour between flange and shell and also had allen head bolts, though obviously they could have been changed. The shell dipped in around 1mm x 1inch, the gap into which a cheap fonted sticker lay... :'(
-
well the hex head set screw in one side is a replacement, the other side has an Allen headed type.
but as to what make it is I'm not really sure, but I'm not complaining. :daumenhoch:
-
well that was short lived, looks like under pressure from the missus, the dirt bike has to go.
anyone who frequents the midschool section interested in the cranks before I ebay them?
-
I might be interested if you'd take cash recorded lmk,
Cheers :daumenhoch:
-

You've got to keep hold of the seatclamp though..It's a classic.. ;)
-
About to pm you regarding f/f & poss stem if it's all going :daumenhoch:

alberts,
alberts,
alberts,
:knuppel2:
something has to be said,
something has to be done,
i've nothing per-se against them apart from them being shit and snapping,
but as has been mentioned before theyre becoming like the mid school equivalent of the dreaded hutch aerospeeds,
this mid school malarkey has always had a more GENUINE feel to it then the old school, most stuff could be found or scrounged cheap and thats always meant that the fun factor remains,
do we really want it all going the same way as the old school where only the willy wavers and cheque book builders get to enjoy it?
all i seem to see in the O/S now are miserable old collectors wanking over there "too expensive to ride" show ponies,
and folk with someting to prove.
most of the guys on here with an interest in the mid school are the ones that actually gave a shit about bmx and stuck with it when it died,
once the big money games start all the fun and "dont give a fookness" of the mid school will be fooked.
seriously, come on guys, lets not fook all this up by placing too much desirability and value on parts that werent back then,
so fook it, i'll be the first to say,
back in the mid, profiles etc would have been way a more popular choice than the alberts,
cool on a s&m show type build but lets not start making them out to be something theyre not.
-
here here that man,the day i cant aford to buy a mid bit ..im out of here
i do have to wait as most stuff just isnt available but it always pops up.
-
i do have to wait as most stuff just isnt available but it always pops up.
and thats half the fun for me too, and i'll be the first to give a big high-five to someone when they finally track something down,
just to re-iterate the hutch aerospeed comparison,
i cannot honestly remember ever even seeing a pair back then!
tbh if someone had a even a 3-pc crank it was a fooking rarity!
and they werent even that good anyways, it was all about the redline flight crank,
but as soon as a pair turns up everyone starts oohing and aaahing and wanking about THE PRICE,
not because they were good
not because lots of folk had them,
simply because they were rare.
fook all that.
-
Joe, you are right, but you have paid more than anyone I know for some NOS S&M stuff. :-X >:D ::)
:LolLolLolLol:
-
im also guilty of spending to much on mid school bmx parts. to be honest i do it out of love for bmx and investment at the same time.
i enjoy building bmx and resto as much as i enjoy owning a few of the rarer more expensive parts. i also enjoy the fact that it keeps me from gentlemans relishing my dosh on a load of sh!t that wont be worth anything in years to come.
i could just as easily spend my cash on a swish new car that once left the for-court is 10k down.
the way i see my bikes are fun for me now and cash for the littlen if ever its needed. so as long as prices keep going up im kooshty as are any of the rest of you mid school owners.
fact is we buy and sell amongst ourselves mostly so we all know a set of alberts arnet what you pay.!!! but you will get your money back if not a little bit more..

That's brightened my day already ;D
-
sometimes i suprise myself at what i type,
???
-
:LolLolLolLol: I'm off to wave my willy.
Mildschool 4 me, goodnight. ;D
-
I guess if that's why people get a prince albert then the cranks live up to their name :LolLolLolLol:
