Got the opportunity to buy some nos Diamond Back pedals. Seeing as I have 3 Diamond Backs, with 1 more frame and fork on the way, this is a good thing. However, the pedals I want are only available in 9/16 and I plan on using them with a 1pc which requires a 1/2 thread guage.
How easy is it to get pedal spindles. Are pedal spindles fairly standard, and can I change one for the other? Is it easy? do I also need different size bearings?
Look forward to hearing from you guys.

:) Don`t know how easy it is to get spindles, but have swapped loads over to get 9/16 &1/2 sets.Wellgo make shedloads of pedals for almost every other company these days & these can cost from as little as£8 new, good for donor parts.Halfrauds & some bike shops also sell replacement pedal bearing sets for not much £.

I suppose that I've been imagining the spindles themselves are different - logically thinking, its only going to be the "threads" on the spindles that vary.... not the whole spindle *doh*!
Well I was never very practical....

is 9/16 bigger than 1/2? :-[ If so they could be tap and die'd???? ???

Juju,
It depends on the pedals you want to change the spindles on, The DB MKS use standard MKS spindles and are different to the SR type pedal.

Yep - its a pair of DB- MKS bm10 style pedals.
Are spindles for this type readilly available?

I think you'd probably have to buy a set of standard MKS pedals swap your spindles over as required and then sell on the standard MKS pedals again with the swapped over spindles ;)
