I don't venture in this section RADBMX much... only admire some of the lovely Freestyle Resto's and look at the Old Skool Pics from the 80's Freestyle Competitions.
And its with some old pics I now come...
I've been lent these photographs by Darren Wood (whom most will know was part of Team Raleigh).
I've been thrilled to look through these pics and study the bikes and little subtle changes and features they had... very individual.
Lets see who can name these guys and the locations...

I've now been lucky enough to receive 2 envelopes 'STACKED' with photographs belonging to Darren... and I could honestly just sit for hours and sift through them.
I've picked out the best ones to scan and share on here... hope you like them. :daumenhoch:
Be cool if you 'experts' could confirm the full spec of the bikes... :daumenhoch:
-
Beard, Jason Lunn ran a green/white two tone team burner with green tuffs for a while, do you have any pics of this bike, be great to see it. :daumenhoch:
Paul Zak was a superb flatlander which puts the double top tube theory in the bin, he did great on a single top tube frame.

Not got any pics of the Green bike in the collection Darren has sent me so far... but there may be more on the way... so fingers crossed because I would love to see that as well...

Great pics Dave, me reckons a Raleigh Freestyle replica must be done as im loving the TAP with Woody bars etc :smitten: :smitten:
-
Old pics , are always good to see
but those a great Dave
They don't have to be action pics either as it's good just to look at the spec of bikes people rode isn't it :)

Thats what I have enjoyed most... obviously seeing these two lads ride a couple of 'burners' :Great_Britain: in such a fashion is great!! BUT like ya say dubber its great to see the bikes themselves and see what components they were running.
Take this shot for example... just interesting to see the Framestand Bracket on one side and the Peg being run on the other... I'm no freestyle expert so stuff like this fascinates me... :buck2: :buck2: :buck2:

Dave forgot to say ( john povah ) is the raleigh rider in satan s toilet at southsea yellow helmet and is on one VERY VERY VERY RARE RALEIGH............. 8)
This was a twin top tube freestyle frame and fork ! I think this was made by a guy called GERALD ............. NO punn intended in a small plant raleigh hade in ilkeston derby where the likes of the bmx frames that looked very like road frames were made You have some pics with( KAREN MURRPY ) riding one of these at hounslow .
I think Johns bike was based round the same design in principal as a Haro freestyler ;) I will speak to my OLD MAN :smiley6600: and see if he can shed some more light on this subject ?..............
Anyway hope everyone is enjoying the photos 8)
nice one WOODY :Great_Britain:

Wow john povah would never of guessed him in a million years, I was thinking it could have been mike pardon. :daumenhoch:

Cool pics Darren, thanks for posting them up Beard :daumenhoch:
I was going to say Povah without his anorack at Southsea but someone beat me to it :D.
I vaguely remember the twin top tube frame John rode for a while and am pretty sure it was the same as a Haro Master geometry wise.
So when is the the big curry get together with Lee & Pete? I might be back in the UK in early July so if the timing is right I'd like to come along :daumenhoch:
-
Great pics, I wonder if they ever tried any of that on a tuff burner??
Love to the 2 lads on the left of this photo that are freestyling without bikes! :LolLolLolLol:

yeah! These are great - Oh how young we looked back then! Paul Zak - wicked bloke! Yeah - Jason is gifted! Bike, Skateboard, Motocross, Surfboard, High Diving - give him 6 months and he'll be at the top of the game.
That whole family were RAD...THE LUNNS
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/m280/ramprat69/n529988687_2143284_4197.jpg)
still rad today!

Damon, I've seen it before but I love that new pic of Lunny doing that one hand one footer, it's exactly the same as his one from the Chingford Jam 25 years ago, carbon copy. Proper extended!!
I've mentioned it before about having a bit of a run-in with him at Southsea when he kept nicking mine and other people's run/turn but I am assured he's a nice kid and I hope to one day confirm that myself. However, I've gotta say, definitely one of THE most naturally talented riders ever.
Daz. :daumenhoch:

Who remembers the BMX Action Bike issue where Jason Lunn was "ripping the lino"? He was doing boomerangs(looked more like handstands) in the kitchen on white Raleighs--without Potts mod or gyros/spinners/rotors. Lunn was really cool.
