Title: tyres help for an old school newbie
Post by: kuwahero on May 23, 2009, 07:53 AM
right guys

looking to start park riding again to help improve my bike handling for racing. looking at tyres, do peeps run fat/skinny combo like we do for racing or am I better with two the same size.

also what are the tyres to be using. I was looking at some Odyssey Path as I like the skinwalls, are they any good

any advice greatfully received, thanks in advance

marc

Lots of peeps run fat front and skinny rear but as far as I know theres no real reason for this, If you run a rear brake it can be difficult to run anything other than a skinny rear tyre as fat tyres foul the brake.

Oddy paths are great tyres but to be fair most n/s tyres are very good.

i run PRIMO THE WALL, dont know if you can still get em , 20 x 1.85, diamond tread patern thick side walls to handle grinds also after a couple of sessions they go really sticky, blow up to 85 psi, 10 to 15 quid a piece , nice tyre  :)

Revenge Industries Fatty front and Pinner rear, but scrub em in before you hit the park, unless it's concrete, then just ride.

Stodgy does em.

come on Ian, you've not tried every tyre going, so there are alternatives.

my Revenge industries tyres are great.

but to be honest the cheng shin double v kevlars from Spasda are grippier than a really really grippy thing from grippysville.
