I believe thats an FMF rather than a Race inc, rare as!!
Subtle differences, the gusset between the top and down tube are different, as is the gusset? behind the seat tube on the seat stays. This is much longer than race inc versions. Also the dropouts are not flat on the bottom. This is one rare beasty, post it up on vintage in the US they will be able to tell you exactly what it is and the age.

As has been said already, dont paint it, find out the history first.

Just like to add that it looks like the original finish to me.

Don't think it's FMF, early Race Inc. ?'78. The FMF had an oval hole in the head gusset. I'm sure the drop outs are the Triple 'A' shape. :daumenhoch:

I seem to remember they were either a ball burnished alloy finish like the Rippers or they were anodised in either Red, Blue or Gold. Think some of the later ones were available in a white or black painted finish!

Do some research on the forks as Race Inc did two types, centreline and leading axle, find out what ones would have been fitted to that frame.

apparently they used early redline forks with this frame i don't think race inc were making there own forks in '78

very mice find indeed - get a tube of AutoSol from ebay and an electric buffer, that alloy will buff up to look like chrome. BITD I had a mini race inc. in gold and it came with Tange TRX forks...one of my all time fave. old school frame.  :smitten:

bit of info dean its a 76-77 i was wrong' the web above the brake bridge
went small in 78. at about that time bill bastian had just left (triple A
kawasaki) and set up race-inc and this was one the first frames to come
out the factory. he also made-laguna peugeot fmf cycle pro and se racing.
             good luck m8  ;)
