It's not just any race, this will be the biggest race in the country outside the national scene 8)
Could even be bigger than some nationals.
MK is where it's at tomorrow :daumenhoch:
-
Because of the delays (and needing to get the boy home at a reasonable hour because it's a school night) I couldn't stay for the finals.
Who made the finals? Who won?
-
Lee Baker killed it Mike, (although two crashes aided his result) I think at one point all 8 were either down or on the grass, his final ran at 6.30 only 45 mins later than last year.
If we hadn't of had the air Ambulance and a normal Ambulance attend the race we would have probably processed 37 more riders in the same amount of time as last year.
Sorry you missed it again bud :(
-
No need to apologise Lee, it's not your fault that people crashed.
I actually stayed until the end last year but didn't get home until nearly 9pm (bad traffic/road works on the M1) and didn't want to end up in the same situation this year.
Who made the 40-44 final? Who won it? That class was more stacked than the national at P'boro last weekend.
Such a shame the council won't let you beef the track up a bit Lee as I think some of the crashes could be avoided if the jumps and berms were a bit bigger cos there seemed to be a lot of people going too fast into corners and overshooting jumps.
-
MK Track is not council owned or funded.
It is owned by the Parks Trust who are a charity, The site is deemed as a playround and there fore has so many saftey constraints arround it it's almost impossible for them to consider alterations
After years of just re-surfacing some of the jumps have lost their shape, I could probably get a re-shaping programme sorted but that would be it.
There is also the issue of it being underwater for 4 months a year no one is interested in investing money on that site.
The plans for the new track in the "centre of cycling excerlence" still plod on, maybe one day it will come to fruission and we will have a International standard track.
I have little sympathy for those that claim the track is the wrong shape for the speed they were doing, a poor workman blames his tools.
Didn't see any of my club members over shooting anything, MK has lots of flat areas and this probably caught people out, riders are able to gain a lot more speed here than on other tracks and our track makes you feel like you are going slower than you actualy are.

Crashin is Racin... Nothing to do with the track.
Competitive racing causes crashes end of.
Think the 40-45 was won by Jon Moore who was creaming it all day. Think Bernie was 2nd/3rd and Kev Ranscombe was in there somewhere too.
Billy tried to upstage them in the B final with a full 360 front Flip but forgot to stay on the bike.
The Payback was mental - two crashed on the start hill, few more after the second turn was a 3 man sprint for the Line. Think Tre Whyte got it but couldnt be sure.
Top Day guys, said hello to a few faces but just so i can put names to faces. Who was the starter who ribbed me about clips and the call up guy in the hi viz top who commented on my Paint job? (Orange Dialled)
Still buzzing from such a brilliant day.
oh and RIP The Southern OSS... first Regional for years without a rider :'(
but thats progress.
-
I was in there somewhere Simon at the back lol, Matt was 7th Phil was 6th
Jon won and the rest were Bernie, Tony, Mark L, and the guy on the FA, dont
know the placings though.
-
40 + Pretty sure Paul Maidment came 2nd ,Powerful Peterborough guy (even his handshake made me wince :-[ )

She does like the sunshine.. look out for the starburst powders from Roseys. Mine is Candy Orange Starburst.
The guy in the helicopter was CHRISTOPHE LASSERRE who also took a nasty one at the last regional at Dagenham. Dont suppose we will see him again this year, last i heard was a broken hip or pelvis.
And get well soon Billy.

Have a look on my facebook profile page Mike there`s a vid of it, but basicly I totally overdid it on the triples on the 3rd straight and nose dived T J Baldwin style straight over the bars, it could have been a lot worse but for my body armour and elbow/knee pads, however when I got up this morning my left wrist was much more swollon than yesterday and bloody hurting a lot too, so I poped up to A&E after dropping the girls at school and I`ve fractured my left schophiod (sp) :-\
-
A couple of pics for you... experimenting with panoramas.

I fooking hope so Bren, I`m ment to be racing the 4x British champs in 3 weeks but the nurse who done the cast recons it could take up tp 3 months to heal, however I am booked in to see the bone doctor Brian Simpson on Thurs to see if he can hurry it along :daumenhoch:
-
I`ve fractured my left schophiod
your schapohid? That doesnt really count! What BMXer worth their salt HASNT fractured their schophiod?
-
Get well soon Bill.
Hope it's not your favourite w@nking hand :LolLolLolLol:
-
Hope it's not your favourite w@nking hand :LolLolLolLol:
He can always go foreign!!
-
Sorry to hear it Bill! Hope you can get back on the bike asap :daumenhoch:
-
If your scaphoid is broken it'll take longer to heal than a normal bone because of where it is and the lack of blood supply to that area of your hand/wrist.
I've broken mine in the past and although I raced 2 1/2 months later it was only half hearted as it didn't have the strength there to snap out the gate or lift it for jumping. My advice is to wait for it to heal and then start to ease yourself back into it. None of us are professional athletes so there's no point doing further damage to ourselves if we don't need to.
Anyway healing vibes and get well soon.

I did tell you about the dangers of wearing body armour Bill!! :-[
It concentrates the force of a fall to the point where the armour stops (wrist). :idiot2:
I prefer cuts myself they heal quicker. :tickedoff:
-
When I broke my wrist I had the full works on and I snapped at the point the armour stopped. However it may also have been my 13 stone weight and my pile driving landing that shattered my wrist. :LolLolLolLol:
I now have a plate and 6 screws holding it all together. ;)

I`ve cut the elbow/forearm part of the body armour off anyway and wear my own elbow pads which do not extend to the forearm, anyway it would have been much worse without the body armour as it took quite an impact :daumenhoch:

Get better before you come back buddy!!!
So many people have come back to racing only to give up because of things like this, (enough to put anyone off)
Let it run its course, heal, then train then come and kick some ass!! (you will) :daumenhoch:

Them carbon forks held up ok too Mike, and your frame obviously, the only thing I can see wrong with the bike is the bars have moved :daumenhoch:
-
The scaphoid usually snaps when you fall with your hands out, palms down. Looking at your facebook vid Billy, that is totally what you did. Its a tiny bone that can take ages to heal, but people often just make do with it broken. Its sometimes not too bad and with a good wrist support you can still ride. The Docs try to put it in a cast for several months to see if it will heal but most of time time they end up having to pin it. Hopefully yours will heal up soon and you can get back to riding.

Rough on you Bill :-\
Good day all in all , apart from the crashes holding things up it seemed to be getting on well .
Good to see some old faces too ;)
:daumenhoch:
-
if it's the scaphoid (spelling), give us a shout, I know a man who knows a man, was back riding in 3 weeks
-
I'm sorry to hear about you wrist Billy, and now I'm sorry for taking the piss at the time telling you it was only a scratch! MK track is a horrible track to crash on, i've broken a few bones there over the years, and those tripples have claimed soooo many people.
I had a great time and so did my Harry (he's the little blond kid on the wooden balance bike for those who don't know him).
Good to see Pete Quad and Matt Wickham showing their faces, I was starting to think they had forgotten where the track was. Who was it that had the Aero Reflex there, I knew your face but couldn't put a name to it? I was going to ask but Harry did a runner and I had to give chase.
I've said this before, mostly on bmxtalk, with regionals like that who needs to race nationals, the standard in Masters was higher at MK with more riders than it was at Peterborough, or so I'm told anyway.
See you all at Hayes in a couple of weeks time, where my youngest will be making his race-watching debut at 3 weeks old. :coolsmiley:

That'll be me! Good to meet you - you did well considering you were sweating lager. Congratulations on the new arrival.
