Right then - been wanting to get this finished for a while now but finally got my last bits I needed. I wanted to do a mongoose blue max with some nice parts since essentially the F&F is a cali but mongoose used to put some cheaper bits on them as stock BITD. I picked it up as a really tidy survivor a while back - the frame was really clean with real nice original decals as the bike had been housed from new and looks as if it was well looked after 8)
I used the frame and forks, tange stamped BB, tange stamped headset and unstamped takagi crank and then set about getting all the parts I wanted for it........
I'm well pleased how she's turned out - Hope you like it too :)
Parts Run Down :
Very nice condition 1984 mongoose blue max F&F (Serial No. M4-I6865) wearing original chrome & original decals
mint Pro-Class bars (cali size)
mint Pro-Class ACS stem (original finish - not polished)
very nice survivor Pro-Class wheels on SR hubs with original spokes, rim tape & decals (original finish - not polished)
NOS Knarler Knobby's
mint Dia Compe MX900 calipers
mint Dia Compe Tech 3's
NOS Dia Compe Cables & Clips
NOS Skyway Tuff Pads
NOS Kashimax Aero
NOS KKT AMX
NOS Takagi Spider & chainring
NOS Izumi Chain
mint Takagi unstamped OPC (original to bike)
mint Tange stamped BB (original to bike)
mint Tange stamped Headset (original to bike)
mint Cr-Mo stamped seatpost (not sure who by :-\ )
mint MX hinged clamp
new mongoose grips
iron cross dust caps (I just had to get these when they came up - to match the blue max cross ;D )
custom Blue Max padset - made by the one and only ;) (It took many phone calls and emails between myself and Steve to get these just how I wanted them - thanks for your patience bud ;) I took scans of my original survivor bar pad and Kev (kdw712) gave me scans of his survivor framepad - that was 2 pads sorted - the stem pad was were all the phone calls began ;D the original Blue Max stem pads were bloody awful looking so myself and Steve batted it around until we were both happy - and I am made up with the results - Steve you are a genius mate I owe you a few beers at MK :daumenhoch: )
Enough waffle - here she is:
