Hey guys,
Anyone got any tips for wheel building? The Rims are NOS anodised Ukai's and I'm worried about scratching them whilst building. Thought maybe put some low tack tape over the top surface of the rims, build em pushing the spokes through the tape than removing the tape once finished. Wadda ya think.
I've built Z Rims before... piece of cake, but being nylon they are a lot more forgiving whilst moving the spokes around I guess!
Master class tips appreciated :daumenhoch:

I've been in the same predicament myself before :-\
That's sounds a very good idea , you come up with yourself ;)
sorry no alternative myself :D

the spokes have to be bent whilst threading through, easily bend back into shape, as long as you dont fold them.....
-
Yep - that's what Stidds does, bend the spokes - they will straighten out when you tighten !
-
Well you have to bend em to get em through anyway :)
am I missing something , is it extra bending ( not in a sarcastic tone , even though it looks like it :-[ )
its just when you are releasing the bend when locating through the nipple hole ,,, thats the time when you're likely to catch/ scratch
basically you just have to go steady don't rush and have patience :)

Bend the fookers like mad and go really careful when putting them in the holes. Tis the only way... Don't rush it at all.
