Title: re-threading forks

How hard is this to do? I dont have any dyes.  Anyone else done it?

Running a die over threads or cutting new threads is easy, the trouble with those forks is the threads are missing so a die of the same diameter of the original threads wont do anything, hope that makes sense.

if there for a show pony glen just cut the steer tube off and weld another one on,i have done it before and it works fine ;)

Agree with Phil, I have done this also, it is a lot less hassle than adding material and re-tapping.

If you know someone with a die it would be worth running a die over to repair any remaining damaged threads, and you may find you can use a few headset washers to ensure the locknut is on sound threads. would be worth a try before replacing the steerer but obviously depends on what the bikes for.

or just rewelded ie refill and the use a die  afterwards as if cleaned up would weld fine

Yea its for a show bike
i would put a new steer tube on as it's a show pony ;)
