North Region Summer Series 2009 - Round 6 at Lytham 5th July 2009

Its the 6th Round of the 2009 Summer Series, so come on lads get ya names down!!!!

So lets hope that the newbies keep coming.  The Goldcoast track is very OS friendly compared to the other tracks and is shorter, which will suit the beer belly brigade!!  Don't forget you'll need a Silver BCF Membership to race OS.  Without one you'll be stuck in a Novice Class and you'll probably get beat by a 12 year old!!  :-[

RADBMX ID, Number Plate and Weapon of OS Destruction Please.   

REMEMBER!!!   OS Racing is all about fun and trying to stay on the bike.  So all you newbies out there who want to have a dabble then dont wait and dont worry.  We're a great bunch of lads.  Whatever physical condition your in or skills your lacking, you'll still be appreciated.  Its all about the CRAIC!!  :daumenhoch:

If any Midlands, Southern or Scottish OS Riders fancy a trip up to Lytham then you'll be more than welcome.   But prepare for a good ass whupping!!   ;D

As its right next to Blackpool, they'll be loads of cheap B&B's to stay in!!  :)

Full Face Helmet, Long pants and long sleeve jersey and Gloves are minimum requirements.   I suggest Shin/Kneepads and Elbow pads.  Body Armour wouldn't go a miss either!!  ;)

Directions For Lytham Gold Coast BMX Club

Head West on the M55 (Toward Blackpool)

Exit Left at Junction 4

Take 1st left (A583/Preston New Road) at Junction 4 Roundabout

Go through the Next Roadabout (Stay Left)

Turn Right at Whitehill Road (At the Next Traffic Lights Just after the Roundabout)

Then Take 1st Left at Peel Road (Virtually on the junction so pay attention)

Stay on Ballam road.  (Keep Right at the big Fork.  If you go down Park View Road then Stop and turn around)

After a Rugby Club Entrance you will see an Entrance to a Car Park.

If you overshoot then head for the Coast Road (A584)

Its the one between the Houses and the Sea!!!

Find Station Road.  Go up it until you reach Westby Street.

Turn Left on to Westby Street. 

Turn Right on to Ballam Road.

Go over the Railway bridge.

The Car Park should be the 2nd Right after the Railway Bridge

The AMTRAC is on its THIRD full season... :daumenhoch: and I have no plans to change unless I can get an Raleigh Aero Pro 'custom' lengthened to 21"...  :shocked:

I only raced the GT24 to try it out!!    A big bike for the big Bradford Track!!!  :-\

Remember!!  If you want to race OS then you'll need a Silver BCF Membership!!

If you haven't got one then you'll be stuck in the Novice Class and you'll have to race kids.........................and you'll probably get ya ass kicked by a spotty 13 year old!!!  :-[

I don't know if you got the wrong end of the stick when I was telling the tale at Bradford, but the reason I had to race novice was because I turned up too late for registration and they already had 2 full gates for old school.  It would have been too much of a ball ache for them to re-do all the paperwork and make it 3 gates.

They kindly put me in the novice class andso I could have a race and not a wasted visit :daumenhoch:

One of the reasons I was pished off when I got there was because I had gone to all the trouble and rush in the week of finishing off the bike and getting my silver ticket  to find I couldn't race old school!!!!!

Its just that Lytham is easily the best track to make a comeback to racing and with a few newbies at Leeds and Bradford, I thought I'd remind everyone about the Silver BCF Membership.   

And while I'm at it!!   

Registration will close at 11:00 am.   So dont be late.   If you think your going to be late but will definitely be there before the racing starts (12-12:30) then let someone know so we can sign you in.

Just managed to change my flight and now get back on 16 July in time for MK (thank fook!! I've been sweating on it for weeks!), I will also be about for Manchester.  Anyone doing this Crewe thing???

Just found out I am away though when its The Brits... can't tell ya how annoyed I am..!!!  :knuppel2: :knuppel2:

The Brits was the highlight of my BMX year in 2008... really enjoyed the whole event... gutted  >:(

Its not bad. One of these ones I will just have to put up with . I pulled out of the last race up our way as it popped whilst in the lead.    Seen the doc and he said this will happen from time to time. I will just go with the flow.

Lytham is a cool place to bring the kids and family if anybody was thinking about coming but the family are kicking off , There is an excellent playground next to the track and the shops and seafront are only a short walk from the track . If the weather is going to be nice its going to be a cracking day out. :daumenhoch:

About the same!!

They didn't sweep it because they are going to do that at the weekend plus they knew some rain would be coming!!

The track will be good for Sunday.  It was just a bit hairy for the practice because it was super dry after this heatwave.

The track is very tiny but fun!!

A good track to learn to race on!!  :daumenhoch:

I had to see if measured up to ya Big G!! 

With such a small track, fitness wont come into it!

Even the most decrepid OS Racer should be able to give 100% all the way to the finish line!! :daumenhoch:

Daz22 was about 10 secs too slow to react to the gate!!  :D

ROX didn't cross the finish line and was told to go back and cross it.  So I think he came last in the 'B' Final because of that.  :-\

Well done to Dubber for a well deserved 2nd place!!  His stubby legs must like the short tracks!!

Well done to Chewy for the 'B' Final win!!

And well done to Glynnyboy for not coming last!!  :LolLolLolLol:

It took ages to go through the footage etc, etc!

So there will be no chance of footage up tonight!!   :(

I have only just started to convert 132 races (with 12 missing due to torrential rain) and that will take an 2+ hours!!   :shocked:

Normally I have around 50 races to mess with!!

Probably late Mon or even Tues before all the footage is available to download!!

It looked like a bit of Argy Bargy between him and Mark Egan with Andy falling and Mark escaping only for Mark to get pushed off on the 1st Berm instead!!

Came off my pedals just seconds before the gate dropped.  :D

Very much a school boy error but as I said to Chewy, it's done now so hopefully I wont do it again.

Good days racing - it was always about the first straight on that track.  Good snap and 1st straight pull and you were onto a winner.

I have to say - Haro82 is snapping with the best of them.  Well done - you'll be a real contendor.  Shame about the crash but that's racing.

Apart from the Final, Andy was going well.  Great snap outta the gate!!  :daumenhoch:

Its all uploaded but I haven't had time to rename the files to say what actual races they are so they are just numbered at the moment.  So once I've renamed 132 files then I'll stick a thread up!!  :daumenhoch:

All the Novice's Motos and Finals were filmed.

12 races from moto 1 (after the Novices and before the Cruisers)  were missed due to torrential rain.    :(

I'll live mate thanks!  Must have gone down hard, cos it takes a lot for me to quit.  Don't think i've smashed owt just battered and bruised all down one side, could hardly move last night, you don't half feel it at our age eh!  Coughed a load of mingin black sh1t up this morning, hope thats not a bad sign though  :-\

Few days of pain and i'll be fine hopefully, I'll be at MK for some more  :2gunsfiring_v1:

You must have done an R Al power start out of the gate!!

You run your rear right back in the dropouts.   Try slamming it.   If you get it nearly slammed and it slips then you wont lose the chain!!

Glad your alright!   

The black stuff your coughing up is only internal bleeding, so dont worry about it!!  :shocked:

Remember!!!   What doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger!!

What an amazing day yesterday!

Final race, went tyre to tyre with Greg round the final berm, battling for 4th, sounded like a swarm of bees as the fresh rubber from our tyres was rubbing against each other!

Came last as bast though after missing the finish line in the B final!  :LolLolLolLol:

Davey told me there was a shot of me racing in Fast Lane BMX mag, then a chap with a Max Wall hairstyle came up to us and said he was selling the very same issue, and actually found 2 photos (pages 69 & 71)! :shocked:

Aaaaaaand, I only went and won the bloody raffle! :4_17_5:

It gets no better!

If your chain is nearly at the right tension when the wheel is fully forward in the dropout then your wheel cannot slip forward enough and loosen causing the chain to come off.   When you fully tension it and it slips it wont end up too loose because the axle can't move forward enough. It might break still but it can't be thrown off the sprocket. 

How tight was your chain in the first place?

Remember to spin your cranks and check tension all the way around the chain.   You'll probably find tight and loose spots depending on where your cranks are.

You should tighten so that the loose spots aren't too loose and your tight spots aren't too tight that you could snap your chain.

Daz has his fully forward on his Hawk!!   So there is no chance of slipping forward.  :daumenhoch:

decided not to go on the m55,turned round went back the way i came.got back ok must be a faulty oil switch, there was loads of oil in there! had to drop some of it when i got back. thinkin about the car obviously had some negative effect on my racin or i would have  done better :laugh:

U have no idea how mad I was yesterday morning.. They ruined my day and my summer series as it's unlikely I can make Manchester. So with only Hartlepool after that I will only have made 5 rounds... Still freakin' livid..!!
