Well, I finally took the plunge and had this chromed by Hampshire Electro Plating - they did a lovely job. I always thought these 2008 Dirt Bikes should have come in chrome - takes me right back to the 90s. I also like the way it feels - [ I rode it before I chromed it!] - nice and tall , well, normal really, not a scooter like so many modern bikes, and a longer back end -
perfect for someone stuck in their ways like me.
Hope you enjoy the pics - im building it now - just awaiting on my front wheel and Im all good to go!

I think its Excrement! Steve, have I ever told you that i dont like chrome?
(that aside, it does look great. Lookin forward to seeing it built up and you riding it :daumenhoch:)
-
Alex, your chrome hatred makes me giggle - im gonna sneak up on you in the night at the next old fools, and make you cuddle this frame while you are asleep, then take a picture, and then show it to all your painted bikes - theyll never forgive you!
-
That looks cool Stevie...but hate to tell you this mate...but they did a limited edition run of the Dirt Bike in chrome back in May (check out 18th May 09 in the News section S&M Site).

I love a chrome frame. Keep meaning to get one done but not got round to it yet.
-
Ha Ha Ha - Stodgy youre right!!!
Well I never - I totally missed that!
however, after buying the frame for a bargain price, then chroming, it still came in cheaper than buying a regular painted one thank gawd.
Its so hot here im melting -
anyone else?
-
True - the price of them now is madness.
I think they only went to the US by the looks of things. Hey oh.
Looks sweet mate and you're right about how they ride - I had a go on Gingerholmes's yellow one and it felt perfect.
:daumenhoch:
-
How much was the chromng?
-
:smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
-
The chroming cost £100 including vat and posting - was very happy with that.
!
-
Nah, don't like it, as you know I'm not a fan of chrome ::)
Bloody loverly that is mate.
Daz. :daumenhoch:

-
dude that thing is rad to the max.
did they prep the frame to? i might get a frame fork and bars done. did it take long and does your brake work? it looks like they chromed the mounts
oooh i want mine done sooooooo bad. standard charge a bomb for bling nowdays
-
Nice, are you going to run a red redneck and chrome slams on it?
-
Really nice, I think the ltd chrome ones S&M did had red decals but the white decals look better, what colour parts you going for?
-
yeah a tiny bit of chrome went onto the brake mounts, but a touch of sandpaper will make it all good -
I much prefer the shite decals rathr than the red - I dont think any of the chrome ones came to the UK in May, I checked with 4dwon and they were only to order.
Im not running chrome slams and a redneck - im actualy going to runmostly black parts - as I love that look.
Thanks for the comments fellas!

I don't think the decals are shite at all. :LolLolLolLol:
Daz.
-
whoops - the s and w are very close together arent they ?! I meant white of course.
By the way , cheers to Del for the decals - they are most definately not shite!
-
That is awesome General!
The chroming cost £100 including vat and posting - was very happy with that.
I can't believe that's all it cost you - I just got a quote from a crowd in Poole for £450 for F&F+bars :idiot2:
I'll be looking up these guys asap.
-
Bling... :daumenhoch:
Is it the one you had re-done in white?
-
Well, my custom S&M cruiser forks which were supposed to be polished and clearcoated just came to me completely raw, so maybe now would be a good time to get them chromed when there is no paint/powder to strip off.
Steve, could you PM me the details of the chromer you used please?
-
C'mon steve the suspense is killin me, i wanna see it finished......now! ::)
