Title: Fitting an Ody Pitbull Brake????
Post by: southend_styler on July 16, 2009, 09:45 AM
Right, bare with me on this as i've had a great deal of frustration with this over the last couple of days!!!  :LolLolLolLol:

I've never fitted one of these before, and when i opened the bag up and a million bits fell out in to my hands, i felt a bit daunted to say the least!!  :2funny:

I think i've managed to get it right in as far as getting the right bits in the right places etc. But when i try and fit the cable, it's very difficult to get it into the adjuster without it having to an almost 90 degree bend to get round the seat tube!!  ???

Is it something i'm doing wrong??

I'll try and explain how i've fitted it together so you can tell me if there's any glaring mistakes!!  :LolLolLolLol:

Right, so the adjuster bit is on the back of the main arms parts, with all the washers etc in their respective places. Then the little plate thing is in the grooves between the arms with a black plasticy block on the bottom. So i then put the cable through the adjuster as you would with any other brake, and then fix it in place in the usual manner on the underside of the plate.

Does that sound right???  ???

What would be really helpful is if someone had a pictorial walkthrough of how to do it and show me where i'm going wrong.  :daumenhoch:

mine was a piece of pee to set up, although i have mine on the chainstays so use the seat tube as the cable stop.

also on mine i run the cable under the puller rather than on the top as in the picture above......just looks a little tidier i guess??  :daumenhoch:

the seat stay ones do look good with a pozistop seat clamp!

One thing I seem to recall is that the adjusters only work under tension and seemed to work the opposite way to the way you'd think, but I could be wrong.
