P.s Did you ever have one in your collection ?? I'm considering now prices are coming back down again.

NOS and in a shed ever since! well would you believe it? ::)

NOS and in a shed ever since! well would you believe it? ::)
:LolLolLolLol: Why would someone have taken the time to fit a headset if it hadn't been built up. Pics are very sketchy - what's he trying to hide on the RH side :-\

NOS and in a shed ever since! well would you believe it? ::)
He must be a mate of 'adam01'..... :P

Sorry mate
It should have read....
Ive never seen a nicer one.
That will go big imo. That is the best condition one and i know it hasnt been rechromed. All original.
I did have one but sold it to Muffski. It was original and mint too. :'(
Might be in for that one on ebay though. >:D
-
if you start again nick, you will end up going all the way...... :LolLolLolLol:
-
That is tooooooooo nice Sam not to be interested in.
I will regret that one if i dont buy it as i regret selling my GEN 1 out of all the bikes i sold.
-
May not be nos but looks too clean if its been in a shed. I know of a few that's like that and they have been rechromed, with the instructions to not polish the dropouts and the knurling is untouched too. Makes it look authentic too. Leave it out in a leaky shed for a year in all weathers, hey presto, you have a frame that looks old! But as Ozone says, it has a headset in it, so can't be nos.
-
those forks aren't HARO either ! ;D
look more like Queen Vic forks :D
-
and you still have to look for some forks nick... how much money have you got nick, buy this one....

That frame is used. >:D
-
exscuse my ignorance but arent those top tubes bent in halfway along like a zippo?
i thought they were straight like the torker its based on?
sorry if i may be wrong
-
mines for sell original chrome and stickers
-
That frame is used. >:D
am i not allowed to say that about my 'TA' nick? ???

very nice!! I would rate mine as nice, but then Im biased >:D
-
Ive only just found out about this - I know the seller very well he is involved in the renovation process at Woodham Warriors BMX club. He is also on here - signon Bully - this is his: http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php'topic=53107.0 (http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php'topic=53107.0)
He may well have his idea of NOS mixed up but that is a genuine frame.
He has a shed full of other stuff he has been sitting on and needs to sell - im trying to get a nosey but he has funeral fees to pay and wants top money hence the ebay.
Ill keep to myself what else im told he has until i can confirm exactly what is there. Im waiting on a call from him.
-
Right ive just spoken to him - the story had got a bit mixed up - the funeral expenses are for the original owner of the bikes. He has died recently & Colin (Bully) is selling the bikes for his family as he died without insurance and they need the money to pay the bills.
Colin was there when the Gen 1 was bought - they found it in a small local bike shop in Kent hanging on a wall and they paid £80 for it - Colin is kicking himself because there was a TA next to it that he had the option but didnt take it. Its never been built but has had the cups pressed into it. he said it basically got transfered from one wall to the other.. it has the Torker Serial no.s
He also has:
Another Haro - Blue with Blue Forks (yet to check serial no.s so not sure of year or model)
A Vector Mk2 Frame and Forks
A CW Cruiser (frame no. TFL 250) that needs restoration
A Vitus, shown in the Museum here - http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php'topic=52146.0 (http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php'topic=52146.0)
2 GT Pro's - 1 OS one not.
Mongoose decade.
He wont take offers as explained above but he'll let me know as and when he is ready to list and ill announce it in this thread.
If you have any questions - im happy to ask him.
-
Yep I retract my statements, this is NOS alright. The headset was fitted to protect the head shape I reckon. So there you have it, another holy grail!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Told ya. ;)
-
i see some photos of his stuff the other week
such a shame he has to sell it to fund a funeral :(
-
Told ya. ;)
Lucky guess i'd say boyo, but good to know for sure it is :coolsmiley:
-
Thanks to Si (Crooch) for posting an explanation around the circumstances for the sale of these parts.
I did intend to post something similar myself, but was aware that it may well come across wrong, and felt it better to just list the stuff on ebay.
As I've said in the listing this frame isn't perfect, but it still is very nice....sorry I can't take offers guys, but I hope you understand.
If you have any specific questions or would like better photos etc, just drop me a line...
Thanks again guys and keep an eye out for the rest of the collection as I get it listed...

£300.00 ;)
-
Nice !!!
-
That is NOS regardless of cups being pressed in. Its never been used as you can see from the drops.
Perfect Gen 1 apart from forks. :P
-
Glad you like the Haro guys - this is the best one....got another two coming up soon - another in chrome, and one in blue with forks - keep watching.
I'm starting to clear through the rest of the collection and trying to list one each week.
Just listed the Vitus....http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320403139090 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320403139090)

-
Well they aint gonna be found in a hurry.
-
and yeah they are welded... not one to ride i think.....
-
I had 2 of these, with the proper forks, the geometry was fairly decent, i broke them both in the same way, downtube came unstuck at headtube end and bent toptube. First one i razzed off a trick ramp in alvaston park (sorry dad) 2nd one was a not particularly heavy landing on some doubles at lochaber. It was '87 or '88 i think.
If i remember right. the forks had a bit of rake on them to compensate for the straight-thru dropouts
-
still just under £500 with 2 hours to go
-
still just under £500 with 2 hours to go
:crazy2:
and just for the frame, and they're not even that rare ! ::)
-
Im gonna give my opinion.
Last year gen 1 rechromed were going for 1k.
This is NOS and probably 1 of only 3 to exist in this condition. I know it hasnt got forks but they can be got. I would rather have a NOS frame than NOS forks and no frame. Saying that i would rather have both. :LolLolLolLol:
However, i would say that a rechromed Gen 1 is £600 at the mo. If this can be bought for less that £800 then i think the buyer has got the deal of 2009.
As Duncan Ballantyne says. Im out. >:D
-
I need some forks ;)
-
£1020 !
-
However this puppy was NOT bought by me

I may be daft, but I'm not that daft ! I am happy that the funds are helping out on a very sad story, but that price !!!!
-
Must be someone in goverment who brought this, there the only one's making any money at the moment. Proberly claimed it off there travel expences :LolLolLolLol: ;D
-
It was always gonna go for this sort of money.
Would have loved that.
Anyone on here?
-
well over priced i say and there not even that rare anymore
-

a nos one is though paul.
-
not nos in my eyes if cups have been put in and not boxed either . rather have a nos trickstar more
-
Here comes the NOS topic.
In my opinion its NOS as its never been built and been in a shop all its life before it was bought. Never had a wheel in it!
-
on the topic of nos , has anyone ever seen a nos changa , wonder how much that fooker ed hit :-\
-
so is it staying in the uk Colin?
-
so is it staying in the uk Colin?
Well, never expected a final price like that!
The winning bid came from the US....but it's all gone a bit quiet....I'll give it a few days, and then try and make contact again.
Just wanted to thank you guys again for allowing me to showcase some of Pete's stuff on here, I really think that has helped to generate the interest and the bids on this item...so cheers guys.
I spoke to Pete's mum last night, and she nearly fell off her chair - she was thinking that she wouldn't get that sort of money for the whole shed!
-

It's a real grey area isn't it ::)
I believe that was once complete with forks - why else would you install a headset, absolutely no point doing that unless you had the forks :-\ Maybe BITD, someone broke a set of forks and the shop owner sold the forks that went with this frame to that guy.
I hope the winning bidder pays up :daumenhoch:

It never had forks, I was with Pete when he bought it from a bike store in Kent in the early nineties.
It was hanging on the wall, all dusty and unloved, next to a white TA.
It had no cups fitted at the time.
He bought it as a spare - hence the reason for fitting the headset and bottom bracket cups, but as he never broke his other two freestylers he never had the need to build it up any further....
Pete loved his freestyle, and the majority of his bikes were extremley well used - this just sat there, just in case, for all those years...
