Title: Mongoose advice please
Post by: HUTCHMAN on August 20, 2009, 08:44 PM
I have a USA Supergoose 3 f&f with OG chrome(very good),if  i asked for a trade for a full cro-mo,nickle, long f&f (first style dropouts),i think the model i'm referring to might be a team model, not sure though.Would i be laughed out of court or is it a reasonable trade.Any help appreciated cus i know nowt about goose's.Cheers.

"full cro-mo,nickle, long f&f (first style dropouts)"

Right so basically by that you mean a 1979 nickel supergoose 1  I take it ???

Not many of those around as the supergoose (i.e. full chro-mo) didn't get produced in nickel finish for long as they soon went chrome early 1980 all other full chro-mo frames of the time where the "team" models but these where candy coated blue or red (although it is nickel underneath  ;) )

Swaps are always tricky to say whats fair because condition obviously plays a massive part. As a price reference a decent 1983 USA supergoose 3 F&F should go for around 150+ but a real nice condition 1979 supergoose 1 could go crazy with 2 keen bidders so who knows !  :-\

I would only say it was a fair trade if the supergoose 3 is in predominently better condition than the nickel supergoose 1 other wise if they are both in the same condition the supergoose 1 is worth more (in my opinion anyways) but try your luck - if someone has a supergoose 1 but really wants a supergoose 3 then who knows ? You'd be lucky though I reckon  ;)

Hope that helps  :)

In that case,i'd settle for a chrome model, but it would have to be the same frame design as in BMX  Bandits(1980/81?)would this change things value wise?or even a painted one at a push.

You may stand a better chance with a chrome supergoose 1 since for starters you've got 2 years of manufacture 1980/81 (well at least part of 81 anyway - until the dropouts changed  ::)  :-X ) so therefore more of them around but still a highly desired and collected frame - deffo worth a try though cos the USA supergoose 3 is also a very collectable frame - depends who's out there with a supergoose 1 i guess  :-\

Good luck mate  :daumenhoch:

Just to moisten your appetite - below is a piccy of my 1980 supergoose 1 - still need a few bits for this one but it ain't a million mile away................

...............and no I'm not swapping it (already got a USA SG3  ;)  :-X )  :LolLolLolLol:

Yep thought so bud - keep your eyes peeled they do come up - you may have to do a buy and sell rather than a swap that's all  :-\

Good luck anyways - and let us know if you have any joy :daumenhoch:

PS any pics of your USA supergoose 3 build or is it just F&F ?   ???
