Title: How many bearings in a bottom bracket?
Post by: thesku11s on September 11, 2009, 11:35 AM
Im fixing up a little bike with a non-standard BB shell so I have to do the bearings loose ball.

Its being a right pain, all the bearing keep falling out! I know the balls are the right size though (8mm)

I was just wondering, with a one piece crank what is the general rule for packing BB's

Are you supposed to leave a gap? Or fill it up completely?

Thanks in advance.  :daumenhoch:

It will be full but with a gap.

The balls have to move so packing  an extra ball in would be too tight!!

So there should be around 1/2 a balls width gap or so!!

If you fill it will balls and there isn't a gap then you have too many!!
