Post by: Voodoocars on September 16, 2009, 02:58 PM

The dvd is cack and the mag is full of pictures that came from the dvd. Whatever happened to bmx mags with proper articles (instead of dribble) and bike tests  (that actually had photos of the bikes). The only things worth lookin' at are the adds. And the 'letters' section at the back.... fook me...what a waste of paper. :uglystupid2:

:) Ride is indeed unfit for toilet paper.Kids can`t even get a decent answer in the letters page & the mag is too scared to give true product reviews, apparently all BMX bikes / products are now all brilliant!

4130 merged with some other companies to made Factory Media, then they pushed Mark Noble out. If I recall he was taking them to court over it...

Lost interest in it after they stopped featuring racing.  Like it or not, a BMX mag should feature BMX racing.

Haven't read it since 4130 stopped sending it to me for free (after they merged/got taken over) I assume.

Didn't realise Mark Noble had been pushed out.  Always assumed he had sold it.  That's a shame.  I credit Invert for getting me back into BMX in the early 90s.

Certainly lost its appeal with me cant quite put me finger on it though, could be the endless articles on riders and road trips etc, seems to be not so much about the sport these days but more of a lifestyle and as for the stuff they do about art FFS!!!!

I'm hardly a defender of DIRE bmx magazine, but we're probably not their target market

A roadtrip to a 14-15 year old sounds exciting, to this 38 year old, it sounds like a bad back

Well Mark Noble got the boot for a "conflict of interests" because he started up deluxe bmx company..
now if what's good for the goose being good for the gander should the same happen to will at dig as he is team manager for nike 6.0?? eh?? not that i'm advocating it, but it's rank hypocrisy by factory.
Ride really does stink now, i stopped receiving it too, and by the sounds of it the 4 people involved in making it don't even get on with each other..  this is no sour grapes from me because they binned my flatmatters page, i was out of inspiration long ago to write about contemporary bmx..  but the way ride goes ON and ON about smoking weed and being an asswipe as being integral to being a bmxer, and the totally one-eyed coverage of everyone with big bars and no brakes.  the average kid will swallow any form of bmx, so they should cover it, jeeeeeeeeeeez.

Well I had a look at the dvd earlier & although there was some big stuff going off in places it was boring & a bit, you know soulless  :-\  I think I'm at the point where if I see another whip, barspin or footjam I'm gonna puke! And is it just Me or do tuck no-handers just look sh*te when riding street?

It is booollocks, Cream is a nice mag a good read!, i read snowboard and surf mags aswell, and these are targetted at more our age range, i guess theres not enough of us old bmxers around to warrant a decent mag :(

i wont be subscribing to ride anymore which is a shame i would be nice if it had stayed as it was, its too 1 dimensional now  :2gunsfiring_v1:

i buy it occasionally, not only does it have no bmx racing, but no vert or flatland either.

as has been said it seems to promote more of an attitude than a representation of the different facets of bmx as a sport.

give me action bike any day! :daumenhoch:

I stopped buying it well over a year ago, I guess about the time Factory got their mits on it, but to be honest it was poor before then.

However I do like the irony that the bikes look the same, the tricks are all the same, the stories are the same each month, the people in it are the same people each month, yet they go one about BMX being for individuals...  :LolLolLolLol:

Where can you get cream from then? Is it printed in English as well?

I've only been buying it for the past six months or so and still look forward to it. this is fueled by my hunger for anything bmx at the moment (only been back into it for a short time)
But I do have to agree with the previous comments about it being a bit repetitive. it doesn't seem to have a lot of joy about it! the mags from back in the day had such enthusiasm for the bikes, parts and riders of any kind, ride seems poorer for not covering racing/flatland etc. the awareness of new parts and innovations is woefully small and like someone above pointed out, all the parts they Do cover seem to get equal praise.

the letters page is worse than useless! If someone does write in with a decent question it is treated with what I can only at best describe as distain, or at it's worst hate!
this is no way to treat the people who buy your magazine/keep you in work.

The state of most of the kids bikes that you see at the parks is probably due in some part to the fact that the magazine offers no tips on maintenance or tips and tricks to make your bike more of a personal thing. (hence, one tatty piece of junk after another)

Maybe we were spoiled in the 80's with the many great magazines we had to choose from? But I don't see why it shouldn't be just as exiting now.
