Heard about TJ's bike, nutcase that chap is  :LolLolLolLol:

Heard Spillers had a good result, well done that man  :-*

Chloe Oaten took a really well deserved 6th place, "go Chloe, go Chloe"  :smitten:

Apparently a VERY nasty stack in 25+ rumours that the eventual champ warned she was moving over, took out 3 riders and 1 has a suspected broken hip  :wtf: Hope it aint broke Claire, heal quick :daumenhoch:

Sure Nick will be able to tell us, apparently a good show with 18 riders in the Old School, lets hope next year with a southern revival that we can get numbers back up in the 40's  :daumenhoch:

There were some nasty crashes, not sure who was involved. A small girl and a woman were strechered of this afternoon, looked nasty too !

Not sure who won old school - we couldn't hear the mic !

Anyway there were some blinding races, some of the best I have seen  :daumenhoch:

As for that Kemp bloke, well he made me chuckle, not as much as Pete mind and his hungry hippo  ;)

Was also great to meet Mr Hunterdubber and good to see Gary 72 and Kuwahero, missed Mr Stupple tho

Moley said he had  TJ's bike test on video. I was happy I made it to the 1/4's. Then got caught up in a crash on the first corner and got 5th. Felt for Mark Barden had a run off in my class 3 out of 4 riders went through but not him.

Top day of racing, but I feel like a 70 year old today after racing 2 classes.

Stacked it in the Old School semi trying to nicked that all important 4th slot.  Old school bikes are fooking shit  :LolLolLolLol:

Best Brits I've been to since Harworth 2006.

Top day watching the racing over 700 riders, great track, good company with Pete and nick, down side not enough food

My 1st Brits  :4_17_5:  and I made the final. Was my worst race of the day, but got a 6th courtesy of Andy Hill and Cotty crashing in separate incidents. What a brilliant days racing.

Moley spent the whole day recording, so the DVD(s) will make some watching. You've got to give the man a heap of credit for the amount of time and effort he puts in to give us the opportunity to re-live these moments. Thanks fella.

Only 18 riders in OS class, which may make it a bit iffy for next year though, not as strong a showing as was hoped by the BCF I fear.

Well done to everyone who made the effort, and a big big thanks to Moley, Boff and OJ for letting me crash in their caravan.   :daumenhoch:

My first Brits.

Great event.  Got wrecked both nights, rolled round on a borrowed cruiser and fluked my way into the semis.

And got sun burnt!

Class.

San, 18 riders in old school was alright, I thought.  More than Junior female (which only had 14 riders).  And the old school race fees generated £360 more than they would've taken if there had been no old school class.  Should be a regular feature if the regions can keep their OS classes running.  I will probably do cruiser and OS in future now I know there's enough rest time between motos.

In the scheme of things though, considering the thousands of members on here, 18 is quite a small turnout.  I guess doing 5 races to qualify for the Brits might be the biggest problem for most people who aren't regular/new school racers.

Post by: thecrooch on September 21, 2009, 08:15 PM
great weekend, easily the best since coming back - was excellent doing two classes but couldnt really get on with the OS due to one of the most OS unfriendly tracks ive ever ridden. big ups to those that made the OS final - made up for Spillers getting third.

brilliant times had by all - didnt even see moley he must have been hidden in his secret video lab!!!  great to catch up with all the Northerners again, sandro, haro82, kuwahero, hunterdubber etc - 4 hours drive home - think the scots are probably still on the road!!

cant wait for next year - lets hope whatever track gets the nod has facilities to match broadway house.

I'm getting an OS cruiser for next year as it will make swapping between cruiser and OS 20" less of a struggle.  Didn't realise I could've ridden cruiser in OS until I saw a couple in the semis.

agree mike, the guy on the freeagent limo cruiser (sorry didnt know his name other than he was a northerner) has raced it all year.  gotta be more stable - but not much...

I actually felt that doing both classes was a help in a strange way as it kept your legs pretty warm rather than waiting 100 odd motos between.

I Built up Pauls Dialled cruiser this afternoon, looking really nice as suspected

That was Mark Huddart on the FA cruiser. Earlier on in the season he was riding a Falcon Pro cruiser. Like spaghetti on wheels. LOL

I'm with you guys on the leg thing. I spent about 4 hours stretching yesterday.

Hope it heals soon.

Be out for 6 weeks they reckon but got to go back tomorrow to see a proper doctor.

Just came out of the gate a bit sideways ,banged bars with Mark Huddard , lost my pedals I think(he's bigger that me) then hit that first roller (wouldn't really call it a roller though  :D ) and went arse over tit. Didn't half hurt. Yeh Crooch think I should have raced cruiser I'd have been down the bottom cheering my daughter on to the British title ! :4_17_5:

I was more worried about getting home with the caravan and all the gear, that was painful :'(

Dex, I remember that now. It takes a broken arm to drop beer :D
Title: Re: THE BRITS

That first roller is shit.  It should either be a double, or get rid of it completely and make the first double a great big one to launch off.
Title: Re: THE BRITS
Post by: thecrooch on September 22, 2009, 12:28 PM
yeah agree Mike, ive never known a roller launch you so much!!!

trouble fo rme was that you come out of the gate head down pumping your heart out and suddenly you have to pull up for the roller - was too near the start for my liking...

presume it was that one that Claire came a cropper as well - again couldnt see from where we were standing.

but guess when you dont have a club that rides the track all year must be hard to get things changed.

hope you heal quickly Andy - what year was your daughter in?

Fookin 'ell Andy.   It didn't look good.  You went right over the bars on that speedbump (WTF).  It reminds me of that BradFord Speedbump that launched me over the handlebars before they lopped 1ft off it.  Most of the kids were launching and landing right in the middle of the gap before the next jump and everyone I talked to didn't like it.

Here's the footage :-

Too many things going on at the point of hitting that roller:  as you say, charging out trying to get a holeshot, coming across if you're in an outside gate, trying not to get shut down/squeezed, pulling up over the roller.  That's why Gates 3 -5 are best at Cheddar cos as long as you get out quick you can go in a straight line and worry about berm position just before the triple.

Claire wouldn't have slammed so bad if that roller wasn't there.  Julie coming across didn't help (dunno why the fastest person would pick gate 1 and then come across) but she didn't touch Claire.

That first roller was a mare. I came off on Friday . Thought it was a little one then went over  into Rab Lambie.  In general I thought the meet was a cracker to be at but the track was a bit to severe for my and many others I spoke to liking.
