Here are some pics of my September '91 Auburn CR20-RX...
When I got the frame it was in poor condition requiring alot of work. I stripped it back to bare metal and had it powdercoated green to match the original colour. The bolt-on alloy Works Link rear end was also in poor condition. It was slightly twisted and had a few deep gouges in the chain stays. I made up my own jig and strightened it all up then I welded up the deep gouges then what seemed like an eternity I filed the welds down then finished it off with wet & dry sand paper followed by polishing with Autosol polish.
I won't show you the pics of it's condition when I first got it because they are too gruesome.
Here it is now.... :)

Here's a pic of the main frame all stripped back to bare metal. Take a look at the sorry state of that alloy rear end.

Looks sweet as, great resto job, also looks like it needs to be raced - get it down to Preston on the 4th October and give it a good thrashing. 8)

That is nice! :smitten:
r them frame sets rare? would love to build one of them!!
:daumenhoch:
-
i like that a lot :daumenhoch:

Nice work! Don't tell the other S&M guys, but I've always loved the look of Auburns. Retina scorching green and all. They just look fast.
I was buddies with an Auburn Team rider my age, when I was a kid. His was set up with skinny wheels, uni seat and small aluminum bars, so it wasn't any pleasure for me to ride. Todd Corbitt's would have felt more comfortable, I'm sure. I'd love to try out a dialed one now though.
Other sidenote, those Auburn CR Bars are some of my all time favorites. I rocked those on my Holmes set ups from 1993-1996.

Yep, JP hubs. I couldn't find any JP hub stickers so I put Crupi hub stickers on them instead. I didn't really like the stainless steel axles so I went with the Crupi axles.

He'll have plenty of time to travel around the world and get to Preston in time...........because the regional is on the 11th NOT the 4th!!
That extra week should help him!! :daumenhoch:
Nice build!!
Get it raced, its far too clean!!
Here's mine after sunny Lytham!!

Anyone got some Auburn pads they would like to sell?......I know it's a long shot but thought I'd ask anyway :)
-
All of the Auburn pads I have seen have been quite plain so I got Firebird (Steve) to make me a padset.
Ask him to make you a padset up but change the colours to suit your F+F.
Postage shouldn't cost too much as pads a quite lightweight!! :daumenhoch:
-
I might put up some pics of my 1988 Auburn CR20-R tomorrow.....It's a great frame/forks. It's got a 19.5" top tube making it great to ride when I use the XXL stem.

Are they the full set with the Works Link and CR20RX stickers? If so I might be interested :)
