can anyone tell me the exact size spokes i need two people have told me two different sizes
-
What hubs are you using with them ?
-
I use 194mm spokes with small flange hubs :daumenhoch:
-
I used 184s with high flange hubs. Well my wheel builder did ;D Make sure you get long nipples >:D as Z rims are a lot thicker than alloy/steel rims and short nips struggle to reach the threads 8)

ive got two sets to built both with acs hubs, thanks for the replies will defo use long nipples :2funny:

Not wanting to confuse things but is the info provided 100%?
...I built up some Zeds recently (using Acs hubs) and after speaking to Stidds and taking measurements I bought and built them up, using 182 length spokes?? Bear in mind that zeds have that raised centre on the rim and that was what made the length shorter than I expected. Just throwing that out there to avoid any chance of getting the wrong thing like :)

The guy who built my wheels does it for a living so I'm 100% sure he knows what he is talking about.
He used 184s...

It all depends on the pattern you use, either a 3 cross or 4 cross. Obviously a 4 cross pattern would require longer spokes i.e. 194mm :daumenhoch:

Impressive as that is I built my own with my own eyes and hands and so there was probably less chance of a communication breakdown or mistake as a result.
I used 182s for a 3 cross lace...
To be fair you could probably get away with 184s :LolLolLolLol:

It all depends on what size the hubs are and what lacing pattern you intend to do.
If you have a set of vernier calipers and a tape measure then I can let know the measurements that are needed to be taken. When you have the measurements I can calculate the exact spoke length needed as I did with bigsman.

Sorry to throw an other spanner in the works but don't you also need "washers" on the inside of the rims as well ???

I rebuilt my 36 spoke mike buff z-rims with small flange ACS hubs with 4 cross pattern using a 184mm spoke using the original long spoke nipples. I just about got away with it (the spokes were too short) but would not recommend you use this combination of spokes with 4 cross. I didn't have washers as the original wheels came without them.
So if you have acs small flange hus and want to go 3 cross then 182mm or 184mm is the length you want (there is so little difference in the length it won't really matter too much), and if you're going 4 cross 194mm is the length you want :daumenhoch:
