right im just wondering why you old schoolers seem to hate us new schoolers ... or atleast it seems that way to me ?
-
Didn't know that we did, most of us on here ride new school bikes anyway.
It is just that old school is what we love as we are old (except for Zak but he is an oldschooler in a young body).
-
mike it's probs you new skool are shredders,
we are not worthy, this is your vid right :) wow
madmike http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php'topic=92991.0
now you know :daumenhoch:
-
na its just that when i see a oldschooler and start speaking to them they start to be a muggy c**t and stuff
and dan sort it out ffs i admit im fookin shit granted but stop postin that fookin shit video me n my mate made ! please!
-
:LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:
Dan's proper got one on your there eh?
Just ride mate, don't worry about anyone else. Pretty much the only thing that winds oldschoolers up is n/s fashion I think. That and maybe a lack of history....
I'm old as hell but don't have a problem with anyone, any age unless they have a problem themselves y'know? If you're going up to these lads and asking them why they have so many brakes, or why is their seat up, then you're going to get some attitude back most likely.
-
na mate i wasnr askin em shit liek that just talkin to em normally and theyre eing stuck up muggy c**ts .... and ye i dont think dan likes me :LolLolLolLol:... oh well dont realy like him anyways
-
Don't be soft - Dan likes everyone. You've just got to prove yourself ;)
-

I guess thats what you could say :coolsmiley:
-
I don't hate new schoolers at all, I actually consider myself one, I'm just 38 and don't wear tight jeans.
most younger new school riders I meet are actually pretty cool, I've been there at the skate park, the only dude with zero tricks
and those new schoolers are happy for me to take my turn just rolling in and popping out of the mini ramp.
ok, I think their fashion is a bit wacko, don't like the way the have their bikes set up, but I don't hate them, it's all riding and it's all good.
-
I was on the vert at creation the other day and this ns rider was asking if I rode bitd and how he knew 'cause I had more pads on than robocop... He was ok and we got on fine but then he rode the ramp and got 6'+ out one handed ect sraight away. Now I hate him. >:D
Only joking. I dont hate ns I just think it would be nice if they had an understanding of the history.I was doin' a fakie to roll back to 540 out and someone called it something (cant remember what) that was defo not what it was called bitd... I must say tho'- I find the 'jeans down the arse and the pants showin' a bit daft. ::)
-
i hate them, and i hate the bikes, should all fook off..... ;D
:LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:
just kidding ya!!!!
i think you might have rubbed someone up the wrong way, because as long as you take an interest in the original bikes (this is an old school website) you will be rewarded with friendly banter....
:)
-
i dont understand why anyone, particularly an older rider, would give a new schooler attitude whilst having a chat( usually the other way round), unless, you were being disrespectful in tone, agressive, intimidating, or smelled.
lets face it, some of you look like you need a good wash eh?
:D
-
:LolLolLolLol: like everyone else has said already....I love NS as much as the old, how you guys manage to
Pull some of those tricks just amaze me!
But I don't think I've had any attitude as such back, some kids I meet at the local park always get
Blasted with. "Why don't you have any brakes?" As they ride worst than me!! Fooking dangerous!
But once I've explained that I can't do a tailwhip, or a backflip and no I can't go over the spine. We get
Along just fine. I even let them have a go on my bike :daumenhoch:
-
i dont hate new skoolers total respect for the tricks they can pull some are just fookin crazy the only thing i dont like is the bikes, maybe its me but they just dont look like bmx`s to me like the old school ones :daumenhoch:
-
If you're a twat you're a twat. Old, new, black, white, fat, thin, a twat is a twat.
-
i dont understand why anyone, particularly an older rider, would give a new schooler attitude whilst having a chat( usually the other way round),
:D
spot on :daumenhoch: some younger n/s riders don't appreciate that they are not the first peeps to be doin what they do, give em 20 odd years n see how they feel about past n present, bet they like alot more than they do now
-
In any sport I think to fully be part of it you need to have an understanding of the history,to me the majority of kids I see out do not know the first thing about the roots of bmx or its founding fathers in both freestyle and race so to me that is weird, short sighted and historically blinded. :coolsmiley:
Personally I think 80% of newschool bikes are dull, however technically advanced, strong, cutting edge etc they are and just don't have the same sex appeal as an old school bike does.
I do watch new school videos when they are posted on here and the progression in riding is amazing, stuff that is being done today is worlds apart from the freestyle of old and I appreciate the pushing of bmx boundries as much as the next man.
I don't hate anyone new school,or hate the bikes....I just like my mid 80's stuff much more and can't see me ever loving a bmx that is a day older older than 1985.
:daumenhoch:
-
"this ns rider was asking if I rode bitd and how he knew 'cause I had more pads on than robocop..." :LolLolLolLol: nice one voodoo , thats because we don't bounce like them young uns :daumenhoch:, i don't think anyone on here hates the ns guys i think they just don't get the banter , its cool getting advice off the ns guys down the spark or track ::) :LolLolLolLol:
-
kids seem to know alot more about the history than they get credit for, they just couldn't give a fook about it, bit like me and the early history of F1, i couldnt give a fook about it either, but, they are jealous of kids that get to go riding with there dads, how many kids get to do there hobby with the old fella, i never did
-
Yeah couldn't see my dad on a bmx,a penny farthing is more his bag :LolLolLolLol:
On the history thing I have bumped into loads of lads on new school bikes-non knew who Bob Haro was,had heard of skyway etc
-
na mate i wasnr askin em shit liek that just talkin to em normally and theyre eing stuck up noo-noos .... and ye i dont think dan likes me :LolLolLolLol:... oh well dont realy like him anyways
mike i'm only teasing mate, i'm around new skoolers every week and have been for the last 5
years, i take them everwhere even to germany for the masters and the worlds so
it can be said i know them really well, i think there great and they do have respect for the
old skool they just dont show it :daumenhoch:
-
I'm just 38 and don't wear tight jeans.
Fooking liar, all your jeans are tight; even the baggy ones ;D
Back to the question; I don't know that this is true a lot of us ride new school albeit badly but some still shred. Maybe you've been unlucky in who you have met or have just caught people on a bad day. One thing maybe that old schoolers ride Haro's and other makes that have "sold out" in the eyes of new schoolers or even that new schoolers don't even know the history and heritage of BMX and that these old makes were actually the market leaders, rider owned, etc.
-
I just love the visuals of old school...the factory kits covered in sponsors patches, the great looking bikes, old pictures of british kids doing endos next to ford escorts etc :LolLolLolLol:
Moving on it just seems the beauty has gone...and the pants round the arse thing is just not a good look and is better suited to young emo boys that are still undecided weather they are batting for the homeside or batting away ???
Each to their own though :)
-
i ride with new school kids every week cant say ive ever had any problems with them to be fair always good banter..
infact ive been riding with a kid for the last 3 weekends and he was born in 91 and i cant get my head round that ..ha ha
good times
-
and in 20 years time will new schoolers hate even newer schoolers :LolLolLolLol:
-
:) Because they`re old and set in their ways.
Seriously, not all OS riders have bad attitudes & you could say the same about NS hating OS.Don`t know where I fit in with this,I`m 38 & ride NS bikes.I`m of the opinion that OS bikes for collecting/looking at,NS for riding. The OS Series riders are an exception and some of them can give much younger racers a damn good lesson.A lot of younger NS riders need a big lesson in BMX history about bikes, riders, tricks etc.Whatever,it`s all BMX and all good to me :daumenhoch:
-
the only thing i hate about youger riders is the fact they wear belts, but their pants still hang out the back of their jeans....
thats just silly
Dave
-
To be honest I'm "Old School" all the way, 42 years old now and I do like watching the New School stuff.... some of it is like totally bonkers and incredibly skillful and ballsy!!! :daumenhoch:
Everyone has their "era" and I think that old school bikes look waaay more trick than NS even though NS bikes are technically better... but they look bland imo.
It does wind me up though when NS riders take the piss out of old school riding, tricks etc saying how lame it looks
..... when we were doing what we were doing back then, some of it was pretty hard stuff to do and we were all pushing the envelope back then to be better and better.
Just cos it may seem easy to pull old school tricks now doesn't make them shit.... all sports progress over time and BMX has too! :daumenhoch:
Still think a really shit hot tabletop or turndown looks better than any backflip360tailwhipblablabla anyways :LolLolLolLol:
-
I love all BMX :smitten: new, old, race, freestyle, flatland vert..... I've always been into racing so thats where my sole is. The only thing that I don't get about new schoolers is........
Why the hell do they insist on wearing their sisters size 8 black jeans to ride in :D
-

Kids by me at my local track re great and good kids!! Always make room for old gits like me an my little kids!!!!
-
it's all bmx innit? i know a the odd bmx'er that are complete tossers old and young and some in the middle. Why are we even having this converation?
In fact we're not cos i've locked it.
tossers :P
-
ok unlocked it now cos i hate you all.
-
ok unlocked it now cos i hate you all.
we all love you bob but your just a miserable fooker >:D
-
hehe >:(
-
Give the new school riders credit where its due for fricks sake, bitd we all wore flarey race pants which got caught in our huge chain rings, the n/s riders wear tight jeans to eliminate this problem and for a brucie bonus the jeans offer improved protection over race pants. your obviously all bitter that the bike clip is now pretty much obsolite in bmx. :'(
-
I never tucked my jeans in, in fact when i first started riding they were tight and 4 inches up my legs to show the 24 hole DM's i never wore. I couldn't afford race uniforms then and never wore them. That didn't change when i could afford them though.
-
Whats New School?
I just Ride... and i dont go to school!
-
I don't hate anyone...apparently it leads to the dark side or sommat :2funny:
Seriously it can be difficult talking to youngsters, there will always be some twat who will think you might be a perv...
It's riding bikes and it's supposed to be fun...I'm rubbish at tricks and I freely admit it, but I still enjoy what I do
For me its even more difficult as I don't have any BMX history to draw upon, so I'm a clueless old bloke on a BMX bike :LolLolLolLol:
I also admit I don't understand brakeless and am a little bit horrified by it.
and I don't find any love inside me for new school bikes, not because of the ride quality as I know that they are a better ride than OS...but because they don't hit that spot inside me like OS bikes do...I can't explain it any better than that.
There will always be a divide between the generations, culture, fashions and so forth, and not always everything will be understood...
Ray.

i actually had a pair of pin striped jeans with elasticated bottoms! :LolLolLolLol: they were all the rage in '83
-

-
bmx is bmx . no hate from me, :)

i'd hate to be 16 again, maybe mid to late twenties, certainly not a teenager... tbh some teenagers look at you like they want to kick your head in, and look like they mutter and mumble when out of range, full of testosterone and want to be look impressive....
now you can lock it bob!
-

Lets face facts we all wore some crazy shit at some point but never girls jeans :-[

-
i don't actually just reserve my hate for new schoolers...i pretty much hate everyone/thing.
-
I thought I was new school but my rims match :-[

mmmmmm, that's a good point.
i have a 2009 frame, a cassette hub, and 28/10 gearing. new school all the way!

-
Nah, were just 40 year old who want to be 12 again, and back on my Burner with a plan to invest my pocket money in Apple and Microsoft.
But our bikes looked better than the new ones, and you could tell what someone was riding from 200 yards.
-
But our bikes looked better than the new ones, and you could tell what someone was riding from 200 yards.
mmmmmm, but you never see two new school bikes the same in any given skate park!
All I ever see is TA's in red/blue and baby blue SEs in oldschool!
ok, so all old school bikes aren't the same but you;ve more chance of seeing to old school bikes the same (or very similar) on here than two new school ones in a skate park.

Anyone wearing jeans round there backsides showing underwear just looks out of order and a bit camp to me....I just don't get it at all :-\
Has anyone asked someone wearing jeans like that what it means or represents? >:(

Whether your NS or OS nobody likes ignorance, lack of manners or snaking.. If you do any of them people will dislike you ( and in Nottm you'll probably get a slap ). I'm OS and will never be able to do a flip whip but then NS riders will never do be able to do a Wilton. None of this really matters as long as your body releases the happy chemicals into your brain when in your own opinion, by your own standards you are shredding ( see, an old skool word! ) which is why you should be riding in the first place.
save your hate for Dog shit, glass, muggers, rentacops and above all council office wallers who build concrete parks so smooth that you skid off every time you touch your bike.
-
I dont hate NS, Like some of the above I ride new school, Did have an old school phase, Racing. Now I dont have an old school bike, Still like the look of them. That's why my NS race bike looks like an OS racebike.
I went to rOm today and always seem to get on with the younger riders. Always get the usual questions. But because I normally have my 8 year old with me I also get asked "How old is he" "How long has he been riding"
Also Quad mentioned earlier about Dad's and son's riding. I have had a few kids say to me "Wish my dad would ride"
As long as your riding and having fun I dont give a shit what school your from.
