need to know spoke size for a set of american imported proclass rims with standard hubs, thanks in advance for any replies :daumenhoch:
-
standard hubs
? ???
Elaborate on the hubs mate ;)
-
If the hubs are Suzue small flange size then 194mm with a 4 cross lace , if they are large flange 184mm ( 3 cross lace ) or 192mm with a 4 cross lace :daumenhoch:
I will double check later but ideally like Jongoose ^ says above we need to know what hubs they are ;)
-
the hubs are sr sealed k 84 front and sr sealed c 85 rear, the rear is bigger than the front, ive never noticed that before
-
after hours on bmx museum i found out that they were 3 star laced to make them stronger :idiot2: so any help will be gladly used

does this mean you are a proffessional wheel builder johnathon, as i have some that need doing and im shite at it.
and you need 194 my man with those hubs :daumenhoch:

The pro-class on my blue-max build have SR hubs :)
They are complete survivor wheels with matching SR hubs stamped "H 85"
Not 100% on measuring spokes but measuring directly from the hub hole to the rim :
FRONT = 194mm
REAR = 192mm
The wheel builders on here may be able to translate those measurements into spokes for you as i don't know if the spoke length includes all of the nipple / part of the nipple etc.
:daumenhoch:
-
any idea who to ask, who are the wheel gurus on here :daumenhoch:

The problem we are having here John is that oldschoolib has one hub (small flange) and the other one is in between a small flange and a large flange :D
I have PM'd him a spoke calculator but you need to take certain measurements of the hub and the rim and input them in the calculator , it's like being back at school.
All this talk of 'flanges' is doing my head in :D

I wouldn't say that mate , I can build them it's the truing i struggle with :D None of my bikes i have built have been riders so it has not bothered me up to now. ;) If you want me to lace them though I will :daumenhoch: Seeing it's you and the little favours you have done for me ;)

I am sure it's Stidds who is the wheel expert on here :-\
-
ill give stidds a quick see where that goes and try what you sent me
nice one

Like I said my hubs on the set of pro class I measured are SR as well - the front hub measures (edge to edge) approx 50mm and the rear (egde to edge) is 60mm approx. - can't see any reason why these others would be different.
And as I mentioned it's 194mm front and 192mm rear measurement from hub hole to rim edge ;)
-
nice one bobba ill have a quick measure but i think from what you said that sounds about right if i hit any troubles john will come with his instruments and well see where that takes us
super happy with the replies and info provided many thanks :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:

hey ian take em up to your local specialist bmx shop alphabmx hope street.
i will be able to sort them out for you matey no problem, i am sure they will be 184 rear and 186 front with a 3 cross pattern. i'm pretty sure they wouldn't have been laced 4 cross on a machine in a bike factory? as a builder of many wheels old and new school, i am most interested in the history of when 4 cross was first used in a bmx wheel. i find 3 cross is just as strong as 4 cross in practice as long as you keep them spokes nice and tight, and with 3 cross its a lot easier to replace the spoke as they dont cross the spoke holes on the hub.
