Title: my £8 kashi mx ebay purchase bought back to life
Post by: trasher on October 25, 2009, 10:35 AM
bought this old shitter off ebay a while back ,,thinking i can something with that

so the cleaning started ,the guts went in the vinegar ,came out pretty good ,,the rails where pitted to hell ,,so they got a blast of plasticote chrome effect

i started to rub the seat down with the intention of keeping it blue ,,got it back to the original colour ,but got fed up with it and i needed a black seat for a build ,,so sent the missus to the local material shop ,,she did well ,, :daumenhoch:

a quick blast of black underneath ,,,might do a bit of rubbing down underneath and paint again ,,,some of dels decals ,,and hey presto ,,,not bad me thinks  ;)

as it came

after some rubbing down ,,,i did some more with wet and dry  :crazy2: ,and it was getting quit good

Really nice work fellas :daumenhoch:
Any details on the materials you've used and the application process?

Suede dug out by mrs, contact adhesive from wickes, £2 ish. Cut the material to fit seat with a generous overlap, cover seat in adhesive and stretch material over smoothing out the creases. When it dries start work underneath. Trim the excess material back leaving about a 1cm all around. Glue the lip underneath, about 1cm all around,  do a section at a time so you can concentrate on getting it right and not racing against time with glue drying.  The nose is the trickiest bit, depending on how thick your material is. Usually needs a couple of slits so it doesn't bunch up too much and to sit right. Press the material into the glue and fingers crossed it won't look shit

I was going to bleach this one black but actually fancy the idea of covering it instead now.

Steve, Where do you get your leather from and how do you get it to stick to the plastic afterwards?
