who says kids of today are lazy blighters who just play computer games, in my village the local youths built a truly awsome jump track, by spade and wheel barrow that took 3 years to constuct , it attracted riders from all over, and featured in some new school bmx mags. Then the council bulldozed it to the ground!!!!! they built another in the woods (can't get bulldozers in there) nope, council said it was undermining tree roots!!!. now at last the council have agreed to this, being built all by hand by kids in there spare time for the love of bmx and adrenalin

I have been trying to educate these said youths in all things old school bmx, i even had a go one one of the little jumps ( not on my Harry Leary ) and come off, had to explain to my misses how i scuffed my knee!!!
these crazy kids are doing 360s 10 ft off 10 ft kickers!!!
when complete next year it should be one of the biggest and best jump tracks in the uk.

When are the lame fook council gonna understand that people want this and shut the fook up >:D
Ray.
-
It might only be closed untill it`s complete, or while there`s frost and snow on the ground, give them a chance :daumenhoch:
-
Frankly, the kids rock. The council need a visit if they want to destroy that in my opinion.......
-
Whats its bloody made from, looks like stilton in some of them first shots ;D
Seriously though some of those ramps are proper steep. They been knockin up concrete over there or something, surely earth would just crumble at the peaks ???
Si. :P
-
:) Hope the council see sense & also through a few quid in to help. :daumenhoch:
-
:angrysoapbox: I think its a dreaded Health and Safety / liability thing??, maybe the council could put up a: ride at own risk - safety equipment must be worn sign, to cover themselves
i really dont know the rules on this?
The jumps are made from a soil/chalk mix, watered, built up and shaped, they dry solid, peaks hold up fine, bit messy at the mo, should be complete this summer.
And well done and good luck to em i say :daumenhoch:
-
:) Trouble is that putting up said signs tends to be seen as an open invite for people to put in claims against you.Even disclaimers do not guarantee you immunity. The council would have to carry out a risk assessment on the site & as it was built without prior permission, there`ll be an uphill battle.

I've given this one some thought now and I guess it's not such a straightforward us vs them argument. For those who love to ride this sort of thing, this probably looks like bike heaven. For those who don't know about this sort of thing (like me) it looks like the ants have had a little too much LSD, oooh trippy :D and could be construed as a bit of an eyesore. However unlike some who would believe that the youths are only up there for drugs :2funny: and booze (well perhaps a bit, on occasion) and the usual 'trouble'...like you can make trouble in an empty field.
I simply believe this facility is needed, and the construction mirrors this need, it is in an appropriate place behind trees, so the uneducated don't have to look at it.
The only other thing that I cant currently see that I would personally ask for from a responsible viewpoint would be some access for an ambulance, as not everyone is Fiola or Mirra....and because its not practical to have a hut or shed on site (I guess) for people to consider both their skill levels and dress appropriately, perhaps if you aren't that good carry some plasters.
If these places are used responsibly, there can be no complaints of any weight, but poor behaviour and or preparation reflects on us all.

Looks OK to me, don't know what all the fuss here is. Trails like this are all over the place, and have been for years - most are keeped as secrate, and can be invite only. some are well known. Councils will mess spots like that up in about 5mins, best keep it to those who dig and ride trails...

Check the Video of these trails
