Just check out the crowds in the first picture. That can't have been a bmx race only surely?

LA collesium late 70's.
It was a demonstration race held at a motorcycle super x race.
Probably one of the most iconic bmx shots of all time
Whats it like to get RAD in front of 100,000 fans? just ask John Crews'

kdubb, not to challenge you but that's not the LA Collesium. The Collesium does not have any tiers, the seating is a gradual progression from bottom to top. But it makes me curious as to where it was taken. It does look like a motorcycle track though.

I remember racing in front of 70,000 people. VERY exciting! I'll never forget it.

Haha Dennis of course you can challenge me on that one considering your knowledge of that era and the places etc.
I was drawing on my memory of seeing that shot in a magazine 30 years ago, but my memory is probably fading a bit now :knuppel2:
John is a facebook friend of mine so i could ask him where it was taken (or even dig out my copy of the mag but that might take weeks) ;)
Pretty sure it would have been after you quit as i remember seeing this as a current picture and i started racing in 1980.
Loving the colour (color to you) shots of you guys racing in front of 70,000 people, wow!!!

Pre 81 Billy as John was on Redline from 1980 onwards

Wow, whatta pic 8) looks proper early Supercross in the days of Bob Hannah, thats what i call Bicycle Motocross. Wish it was still like the early motocross scene :(
