just got a nos in packet gold suntour seat clamp,it looks genuinely never out of the packet,the staples holding the card board to the plastic are the only ones in it and there are no other staple holes but the thing is he clamp isnt gold anno like my other suntour clamp.it looks like its spray bomb gold instead.does anybody know if suntour ever did this with some of their seat clamps??im sure there was a red one on gay bay the other day that looked rattle can red instead of anno.

sounds dodgy to me, all mine are ano', and ive never seen a genuine one spray painted, why would they bother to go through the trouble of having some painted when they would have just sent them to the anodisers by the thousand.... ???

yeah i know a bit weird but this packet was definately freshly opened by me today,no tampering at all,the packet itself look nos,as mint as the day the cardboard was printed,check out the red one in the stickies,that looks rattle can too,the band looks anno but the rest looks glitter red ???

no... i doubt it very much, that looks ano' to me, think its just how the red colour goes on, to get that glass look ano finish the alloy would have to be polished up to a mirror finish, which suntour definately didnt do the seat post clamp....

They are a cast made clamp so no shiney finish except the band around the centre which has been polished and stamped, then anodised. The glittery effect is the light refraction caused by the cast. Post up some pics so we can see what you are on about :daumenhoch:

my crap camera cant pick up the differance!!grr,! basically the nos out of packet from vertego is totally anno,like your brake calipers or levers or rims,that same smooth shiney mirror finish.the one i got yesterday nos out of packet is anno on the band thru the middle but the rest is a kind of glitter matte finish,a bit like the pedals neil sprayed silver,a flat non mirrior finish.i swear that red one in the thread i linked to is the same,anno thru the middle but more of a matte glitter finish on the rest?? ???

If it weren't close to midnight I'd go get my red and my blue out of my boxes to show you; both of mine have that same effect, one is a survivor clamp in red another is blue and at the end of this week I'll have another blue one to comapre against ;D.
