Finally got my first generation out of the shed. Its in alot better condition than i thought, definetly doesnt need recroming, i would be grateful if anyone can give me any tips how to get rid of little bits of surface rust and get the shine back, did a little with T-cut and came up quite well. Im also in the process of cleaning the front Tuff of black paint, its bright blue underneath just gotta get the crap off.
Also where is the serial number on the frame, cos someone on here wanted it.
Here are a couple of pics below (sorry for dodgey camera)

don't use any more t-cut....it's abrasive.
I spray the frame with wd40 first, then use fine wire wool to get the worst of the rust off, then a decent chrome polish. Autosol is a bit abrasive too so avoid that unless nothing else is available. It needs to be a liw=quid polish, not a tube of paste.
Wonder chrome is excellent.

Hi
Nice bike, like the seat.
The serial number is on the rear right drop out, you'll have to take the wheel out.
I always spray down with WD40, leave them for a couple of days then wash with Nelson car wash / wax, and a good hose down.
Then strip. I have just tried a Spontex pad and also a Spontex cleaner with a blue handle (get both from Tesco's) for some items. However, I always use TROLLULL 0000 grade wire wool (the finest you can get). It does not scrach the metal at all and is great stuff.
There is always PEEK and Autosol aswell. But I use them before the wire wool.
Hope this helps,
J.

Try Autosol on the chrome - I've just used it to restore two chrome frames (one over 23 years old) and tehy have come up as good as new!!! Use it quite liberally and work into the rust spots, they soon come off. Buff the stuff off before it drys so it doesn't become abrasive.
Good luck fella!

Snake Bellies
How long has it been as Hook Worms are relativly new.

Or there are quite new i used to use it to get to Finsbury Park on tube everyday, a couple of years ago. Cant beleive i left it there with a dodgey lock on it and sometimes even over night when i went on the piss. I did'nt realise what it was worth till i came on this site. Good job none of the dodgey folk round Finsbury park knew what it was worth too. Live and learn.

yup the seat looks like an elina and from memory a haro was about £130 FnF

like retrogeezer said wd 40 and wire wool then polish with toothpaste and im not joking it works really well and not to abrasive and leaves your frame minty fresh :daumenhoch:
