Title: Yamaha BYZ501 advice.
Post by: Flan on November 16, 2009, 10:18 AM
Hi there,

Ive had this bmx since i was 12. Back then i was not sure what is was (it was rusty and all the anodizing had gone pink.

now some 14 years later and a little reserch i find out it was one of these
http://bmxmuseum.com/image/01_copy6_lg.jpg

i remember specificaly the seatpost and all the red anodized parts. also the cranks had a mtb style bottom bracked with plastic cups in the frame.

Over the years i painted the frame many different colours but now want to restore it to its former glory.

All the 501's ive found have been chrome although im 99% sure mine was white? did they do the 501 in white?

ill also be on the hunt for spares for this bike (rare i know) but worth an ask ;)

Any help/advice more that welcome
Thanks

PM Stidds!

He used to ride one BITD and restored one for MK08 (or was it MK09)!!  :daumenhoch:

The Yamaha BYZ 501's only came in chrome with red Shimano DX parts on (bloody lovely too).  The white frames were either the 201, 301 or 401 Yamaha BYZ's.

Here is my BYZ401.....
