Title: Diamondback axle adaptors.
Post by: SteveG on November 23, 2009, 12:03 PM
Hi
Can anyone help. I recently bought a new BMX to ride around on and built up a coaster brake rear wheel.
The frame is 14 mm and although I have some spacer tubes fitted to the axle the adaptors made by Diamondback might be a better way to do it.
Trouble is nobody can tell me what TPI the 3/8 thread is.
I think the hub I have (shimano) is 24 TPI, if these one fit I can grab some off ebay cheap.
Thanks

:) Most axle adaptors are just tophat type washers,if they`re threaded they`ll probably be 26TPI.
These are worth a try as they are not threaded.

Hi
thanks for the reply.
Billy's do a screw on one in 24 and 26 tpi sizes but they are more expensive actually made by 4 jeri.
I can check the hub thread (although I only have metric thread gauges) just wanted to save sending things back if they don't fit.
I will have a think about the washer style ones. I haven't got a lot of space between the dropouts and have axle adjusters on the outside.
Cheers.

i used the billys ones on this as it has odd axles so if you buy one of each then you cant go wrong

No worries. The axle on the coaster is the same as a Skyway Suntour one.
I'm just being a bit tight. I will give the Billy's ones a go as at least they bother to list the size.

Thanks for the help.
I've got some metric thread gauges and after thinking about it 24 TPI is what it is.
The wheels fitted with some spacer tubes at the moment but it's a bodge. The size of the cone locknut is also a problem so going for these is possibly the best option at the moment.

yep their what i used  :daumenhoch:

had to file some flats either side to fit in my haro drop-outs and i removed the cone locknut and used these as the locknut so the flange fitted perfectly between the cone and the frame :daumenhoch:
