Out of interest how often do these frames come up, what do they ususally sell for.....any info ??
I know they were the top Hutch b.i.t.d and they came specced up, but anyone seen a f&f for sale recently ?
-
wernt they jusy pro racers with better parts,ie aerospeeds and mag hubs
-
And Pro star decals Scott :LolLolLolLol: i thought the forks were slightly different on the Pro Star, but my knowlege is shite on Hutch's
-
Like Scott says they were hand picked Pro Racer frames used on the Pro Star, chosen if the chrome / welds etc was particularly good, stickered up and kitted out with all the best parts. The forks were non - drilled, I've had a couple of extra pairs over the years and the drop outs were skinnier than normal

One of the guys at BADBMX has a complete Hutch Pro Star with all the original components on it. He used to race on it in the 80s and did a few old school races on it before he realised how much it was worth. I think someone in America offered him a couple of grand for it, but he's holding on to it for now.
-
Your Good to me Mark 8) :LolLolLolLol:
Stunning Bike...probably one of the sexiest builds on Rad :daumenhoch:
-
Would you ever consider selling that Mark ??? not putting my hat in the ring like, but it is fooking lovely
-
Here's a catalogue from the 80's from the UK Hutch distributor.

Hoping mine will look as good as that when i get it. :daumenhoch:
-
You do have to keep an eye out for normal Pro Racer F+F's , later decalled as Pro Star's just so some crafty fukker can skim you of mucho more cash claiming it's OG ;)

Nooooooooooooooooooo waaaaaaaaaaaay. I'd sell 1/2 hour to do as you please with my sphincter before that sorry Paul. Let's hope it never comes to the crunch with either.
Not seen that Shiner ad for about 25 years. Forgot about that , awesome. Love the Trick Star below it. Now that'd be cool, building the Trick Star equivalent of the Pro Star for a matching pair.

I was going to say that, watch out for that shit trick, you could find yourself getting fleeced big time if you thought the Pro Star frames were something other than the Pro Racer.
Yes, you could build one if your prepared to chuck £4000ish at a bike but proper Pro Stars left the factory as Pro Star's. The Hutch Kashi's were only available with the complete factory made bike.
-
I would like to think i could put a slow burner Pro Star on the list, maybe build it over 2 years, but how do you stop yourself bidding on parts when and if they come up :LolLolLolLol:. I think i might just put my chrome pads to use on something else :daumenhoch:
-
Fook knows how you could stomach doing it all separately. You imagine typing in a £1500 bid on ebay for some aero speeds and try not to throw up. And then keep jabbing a pen into your arm. You'd go snooker loopy.
-
Do it paul, before the sea levels rise and where all dead :LolLolLolLol: :daumenhoch:
You know money is worthless, so spend it now while you can on somthing that you will enjoy, you only live once :daumenhoch:
-
Here is my early 82/83 pro racer build
not such a good pic but it has pads on now

I've said it before and i'll say it again, that is the nicest BMX i've ever seen!!!
-
Not sure, and dont realy want to, to be honest. there were a few impulse buys from the USA and a few unpaid direct debits along the way though :-[ ;D ;D
-
Good to see you got the pads to, i think as a present when i pass my next two tests ill make inroads to a Pro Star.....saying that i bet with every new one build the old stock availability goes down 10%
-
i remember reading somewhere that because Hutch couldn't manufacture Aerospeeds quickly enough, they were offering the Pro Star with either Flight's or Profile cranks.
-
Lovely bike Stevie
Are those cranks JDB's
I've heard he's hard work to get stuff from ,sometimes :-\,,alledgedly :D

People who paid before June with an expected delivery 6 to 8 weeks must be really p'ed off
This must be what people mean when they say he'll take your money and let you wait
and then charge for cancellation
Ahem ,,
DISCLAIMER not my words , just what I've heard ;)

both of those a absolute corkers, love the colour of the cruiser.the 20" was 99% done ??what a stonkin build.
-
Using 401s not aerospeeds though.
Pah! Cheapskate! :LolLolLolLol:
-
which one is that Glen'the chrome P.R?
-
is my memory correct that the complete hutch pro stars were £1000 in the 80s?
-
$999 Dollars i think i remember
-
got my pro star frame, black grips, real aerospeeds, clamp, deep h stem, hutch 2-1 lock, hutch seat and hubs just need pads, bars and chrome araya 7c's now
then see what it looks like original or make it bling bling :coolsmiley:
-
i rather like the 1983 release of the Pro Star, black rims,ACS seat and i'd love to know if anyone has one of those three bolt stems(pre deep H).Can't remember exactly what the rims were, may have been Sun??
-
come on Glen, lets see some pics!!i'm as bad as you when it comes to a Hutch.
-
one other question related to the Pro Star, were there different seat clamps bitd?Iknow what the run of the mill USA and Jap ones look like, but i've got one that i'm not sure about. It is about 3mm thinner than a US made one and the bolt uses a 5mm allen key,yet it doesn't look like a mini clamp. Also does anyone know anywhere to get the True Temper bb decal from?
-
a 1" 2n1,you jammy bugger!
-
Also does anyone know anywhere to get the True Temper bb decal from?
Del ! He did the one in the pic I posted earlier.
-
Did he do the down tube one too ?
No, I got that from JDBruin a few years ago, although I did send a scan of it to Del ;)
-
pro star's did come with araya 7c rims and not araya 7x rims did'nt they?
-
As mentioned earlier, the 83 M.Y had something like USA made Sun rims, there after it was chromed Araya 7X.
-
Just checked, the 83 M.Y did have Sun rims.
-
ah ok araya 7x rims it will be
cheers
-
Lovely bikes, got mine in 84 from the U.S. still original apart from the seat post, and stem, got a Hutch lay back post in 85 (bent the straight one) and the stem snapped in 86, and at that time you couldn't get the deep 'H' just the western 'H'. Tim Judge even had spin on it when I raced the Kelloggs in Birmingham.
Mad Mart
-
i'll try and dig out the one with Tim
-
yes,pic please,love to see that.
-
just found these, got some of him riding my bike, i'll keep hunting. Can't remember what year these are from, Birmingham Kelloggs, the one with loads of start hills and a bridge? Me racing Braintree a few years ago giving new school a run for their money. Enjoy.
