-
wish i could help,sorry.
i was just about to post a similar question, but while on the subject already, when did 990 plates first hit the scene? year? who made them first?
-
i dont think hoffman first made them. all his bikes had 990 mounts and he didnt have plates until 97.
i want to say standard first made them in 93,but was wondering if anybody else had them before them...
-
yip, but not on any hoffmans

I'm sure there was a thread on here about brake plates a while ago. Conclusion was Standard & Fluffy Toys came out with one at around the same time in '95 I think. People had welded their own 990 & canti brake mounts on for a good few years before that though. I first tried it after seeing somebody at the worlds with them on the forks so did the same but brazed them, they broke off!

Hadnt 990 mounts on forks been introduced much earlier than 97?
I believe Haro put 990's in front in there 1996 bikes for the first time but other companies used them before 96, can't remember which.

I scrounged all my magazines and the earliest mention of a Pitbull II brake (not brake lever) was August of 97. Can that be right? Was it that late? . I lost all my 1996 issues of everything in a flood but no mention of a II brake in 95 or earlier either. I dont have a clue on 990 brake plates, RA (Rad Accessories) was making them back in the 90's also.
