:LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:
I can ask this Question this year ;) :D, seeing as I don't ride my 1992 TNT anymore :LolLolLolLol: ( I love that bike )
My Race steed of choice is my 1983 GT Pro 4 Nora , all 18.5 inches of genuine O/S :4_17_5:
So who else is riding proper Pre 87 bikes this year at MK :)
I've never understood why there is a Novice class at MK :-\, everyone in O/S racing are of all abilities at a normal race meet ::)
So will next year introduce a O/S Pre 87 and Mid school race class , same as the show and shine classes. 8)
BTW no objection whatsoever to Mid riding with old ( as I rode a 92 no lugs ) , just like I dont mind cruiser in with 20's in O/S class all is just for fun :smitten:
More the merrier >:D
just like to see who's gonna be racing the oldest bike
-
For the 5th year running Im gonna be on my redline PL20 1983 vintage, sitting on the gate tutting at all the wannabe sandbaggers riding mid school tat >:D
-
mm sorry guys my ride is 1988 ;)
-
...easier for the 'less tall' riders to manage on lickle bikes :LolLolLolLol:
I couldn't fit on a normal 20" even back then - I was on cruisers and pro frames all through my teens.
Anyway, I might race an '84 Falcon Cruiser in the near future; it's pretty short and tall....
-
:LolLolLolLol:
It was only at MK09 I rode my TNT , at MK08 I rode another GT Pro Nora, that was also a 1983 :)
Big T keeping it real :coolsmiley:
-
" lees tall riders " Jon ? ;)
I like your diplomacy Jon  :)
Whereas JJ ( Baldbmxer) just comes out ans says I'm a fookin hobbit :crazy2: :knuppel2:
But yeah Old school bikes are smaller 19.5 and below usually , that what the class is about :)
Big Stu , in the early days must've been over 6' and riding 17" TT with Banana seats :D
Even in the years upto 1987 big Pro riders like Patterson bros and Andy Patterson , Pistol Pete
had to ride bikes Pre 87 ,,,, because ,,,,,errrrrr ,,they hadn't invented mid school at that time :D :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:
-
:LolLolLolLol:

Carl stop pussying around and get your name down , no novice class business either ,most of O/S is novice and a top laugh too
You're a decent rider I believe ,, all you have to do is stay on :LolLolLolLol:

Matt, I remember your thread last year mate ;) , the same crusade as our very own Dan dare .
The crusade for a true Old school class , but still the majority tend to steer toward the later bikes for the 20.5 plus size .
Thing is , yes it's good to do , but do it get it out your system
and get back on summat small, twitchy
and same as ALL the guys were riding when WE were watching the Kelloggs Championships :4_17_5:
Our Heroes did it ,,,,,,,so should we :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:

cheers mate, it's got 185mm flights on it as well which helps, but i'm used to my GT which is 20.75 by the way the ripper is a replica of the one i'm riding in my avatar in 83

Gonna be wobbling around on my 1978 Team Mongoose like last year (17.5" TT) or a 1983 Supergoose (18.5" TT I think) if I can get either of them ready in time :LolLolLolLol:

Any old bike will do Spence , it doesn't really effect our limited ability ;D
Betty did an Old school race on his Gen 1 Haro , a while back :D
and JT Smooth actually WON a recent regional on a MK1 Burner ,, now that is something  :crazy2:
-
had a few offers of number plates so it looks like the ripper is coming out to play :daumenhoch: :)

well.....i'm gonna make no apologies for riding "mid school tat"
95 Holmes. it has lugs yeah, but it's still "legal"....kind of...sort of....maybe...lol.
And we need the novice class, totally, it would be no fun to be like only half way around the track when the others are finishing.

Racing this 1982 pk ripper at MK10. I found the frame & forks last year on my customers compost heap! could not believe my luck :)(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/zz236/elmzy/pkripper004-1.jpg)

Riding this, this year.....

Happy to ride on a gate with any year, but pre 87 is a cool idea :daumenhoch:
-
both nice looking rides :daumenhoch:
-
I used an '81 SE Basher (nearly se anyway) with coaster brake. Would've been easier without the coaster as tone7 showed winning the c final on his.

Yeah, it looked good as it zoomed past me somewhere between the 1st and 2nd doubles in all 3 motos :LolLolLolLol:
Next year I need better tactics than my usual "Snap out the gate - then what?"
-
i quite like the sound of your 'usual tactics' sound just like mine ;D
-
How many, if Any, Real old school bikes made the A final?
-
Smoothy was riding a CW and came 2nd (I think)
He likes short bikes coz he won the pit bike race too.

having rode both at MK10 (82 ripper, 83 GT pro and a 90 GT pro series i now think there SHOULD be two classes with the cut out date for old school to be discussed but as a suggestion 86/87 ?

Sorry for riding a "fake" old school bike in the final of an Old school race. I know no one really minds, but its not like I had an 18"tt.
Yeahman, I loved it. Loved the racing, loved riding 2Bobs ramp, even loved the bunnyhop comp.
28 years and still Lovin it! :daumenhoch:

'89 freeagent limo
-
Is it a TT size limit or a frame age limit that's wanted - the FA Limo has the same TT as my 91 Holmes.
I don't get the calls for frame age limits as there are already the 1" threaded, caliper brake rules - everyone brought their old bikes down to MK to have some fun racing and it looked like everyone was lovin it.
A frame age limit will just split the class up for next year..........maybe that's a good idea as it'd mean one less race to struggle through with a hangover!!
JTSmooth also showed the majority of riding well is down to the rider, not the bike - I mean winning on a frikkin Burner; jeez
-
oh! and sorry for taking just about everyone out in the Final...............it won't happen again - honest!!
