Title: ** MK 2012 IS ON - DATE CONFIRMED **
Post by: haro-os-boy on February 21, 2012, 07:46 PM: OK guys we now have the weekend confirmed for this years MK 2012 extravaganza, the only place to be for a fun packed weekend of everything Old School BMX

This years MK will be August 18/19th - so get it in the diary before the missus has you going on holiday ;)

Loads more info to come, just a heads up on the date for now.

Well I was considering selling a couple of bikes to pay for a flight back to Blighty for the weekend, but I think the divorce it would cost afterwards would be too much.

The details are at the beginning of this thread.

It is held at Milton Keynes BMX track, camping is on site at the track on the Saturday night, the main show is Sunday but Saturday is open too (from early) and has more of a chilled out getting drunk vibe to it. There are no facilites at the track as it is basically a field, but there are toilets, burger van, ice creams seller etc. However it isn't far to the pub, takeaways and McDonalds, LOL.

On the Sunday, you have loads of things going on, from probably the best BMX Show and Shine anywhere in the world, loads of fat drunk/hungover blokes racing BMX's, raffle (to win some lovely prizes) and even funnier you will see the site Moderators and Admin running around like chicken's with no heads trying to make sure everything goes smooooooth.

And most importantly.. Everyone is welcome and it is a free event.

If we have the time, trouble is there are loads of things to do all weekend and we usually don't get the chance.

This sounds like a great idea Stu but instead of building a POS on a small budget they could each borrow one of your POS's.

That would make me cancel my holiday Stu, one of the funniest ideas ever on here. The idea of the mods trying to convince a fit bird to sit on their bike and have a picture taken I think I would die laughing to watch.......

MK12 is Saturday and Sunday only, Friday is for the Admin and Moderator team (& event sponsors) ONLY to set the site up and ensure things like the marquee's, toilets and skip etc and in place.

Please do not turn up any time on the Friday as you will not be allowed entry to the site.

Anyone can enter S&S or racing etc at MK, the SS money goes toward keeping the MK weekend a free event, so basically covers things like hire of the site for the weekend, Ambulance cover, Insurance, Toilets, Skip, Marquees etc etc etc etc.

Post by: pickle on June 25, 2012, 07:52 AM: The site supporter money goes towards running the site and also makes up part of the MK funds. It also gives the person the right to buy and sell stuff through the market here without ebay and paypal fees (if you know the person and pay gift that is).

Over the MK weekend, as Sean has said, the racing and show n shine are there for anyone to come along and have a go.

A couple of things i would say though is....

1. bring as many of your bikes as possible for show, it doesn't matter if you think they're never going to win anything........it's about letting other people enjoy your builds and seeing THE biggest collection of UK old school builds in one place :daumenhoch:

2. The racing? my advice is come along and have a go, most people come along and think about having a go but don't as they're a little scared or think they'll never win. but like the show n shine, it's all about having a go and enjoying the whole weekend.....and i can bet that everyone who thinks about having a go and doesn't, they will kick themselves afterwards for not having a go. once you try it the buzz is awesome!
