Okay, i've had a PM from Madrok who is looking to put a combined Burnerworld/Radbmx team together for this awesome looking event.
Having done it last year (during the day) i can say it was a fooking great day and a real achievement, so anyone fancy joing Madrok on Team BW/Radbmx?

Sounds wicked but far too long a distance for me, can I join in at Brighton and still take equal credit?
Good luck to anyone who does this. :daumenhoch:
-
can just see you speeding down that hill in the dark!
so Rob have you signed up for this?
was looking at john o'groats to land's end, but would have to be next year as I don't have enough holiday days left this year since it will take a couple of weeks!
haven't seen any record of anyone doing that on a BMX though - would be a challenge and a half and I need to find something else to do because no-one will sponsor me to do L2B again
my mrs thinks I'm an idiot (she does have a point)
-
I'm trying to get some info together for a team effort with pooled sponsorship. I'll report back asap. Anyone up for doing it please state so I can get an idea of numbers, remember pride is forever dudes. :daumenhoch:
So far we have me and Spike371, plus Neil VV as a possible coming over from NI for it, and maybe Beard too.......
-
What about Coast to Coast? West to East.
A lot of the road bikers do that one.
-
Plan is to do London to Brighton @ night, landing in Brighton around dawn. :coolsmiley:
-
Tell spike to at least do some training for this one ;D
-
How many miles is it?
All on BMXs?
-
Its about 60 miles.
We are planning to do it on BMX be it 20,22, 24, or 26. ;)
-
Cool, im tempted. I done a London to Cambridge last year which was 66 miles but that was on a mountain bike with gears though. lol
I do have a road bike now as i plan on doing lands end to John o Groats this year along with a london to paris. if anyone is interested.
-
Tell spike to at least do some training for this one ;D

Already planning to stop drinking at least a week before this time ;D
I learnt a lot from last years ride, so will be a bit better prepared this time :LolLolLolLol:
-
Cool mate.......hey you did it and fooking hats off to you mate :daumenhoch:
it was a great day and superb feeling getting to the finish line!
-

A ride around london all day messing about - with out the pub stops, is about 27 miles ish on a bmx
the hills are the killer
-
Get your name down Andy, we need traction action not air time chit chat. :LolLolLolLol: :4_17_5: :4_17_5:

Note made in diary. Very interested :daumenhoch:

well worth it - but ignore the padded seat/shorts at your peril
-
So, what's everyone riding?

I'll most likely be riding a Robbo Amtrac.

yeah, you'd be fine adam - go for it
the hills are a 'challenge' but you can push your bike up those (we even saw people pushing mountain bikes up the ditchling beacon, or spinning their cranks in such a low gear that it made me wonder why they were bothering)
only thing that made me really suffer tbh was the last hill in the town which appeared by surprise just before the end, coinciding with the very serious and urgent need to have a dump which had refused to appear all day, despite a few requests. it was a good job there was a pub at the top of it or I would have been in trouble
-
Ok Ive Just booked my flights and Madrok has kindly sorted my digs and Spike371 is lifting and transporting me . :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Would love to do something like this up north for a kids charity with the northern radsters :daumenhoch: good luck guys :Great_Britain:
-
We have got quite a few signing up over on Burnerworld. :coolsmiley:
I've opened a team donation page, once people register for the ride let me know and I will add you to the page and let Clic Sargent know you are part of Team BW/RadBMX. We will all need to raise £300 as individuals, but by pooling the donations as a team effort if one falls short we hopefully will be able to cover him/her with a bit from elsewhere. Hope that makes sense and everyone agrees.
The site for donating is http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/BW-RadBMX-4-Childrenwithcancer
PLEASE PLEASE share it with everyone, even if you aren't doing the ride you can still be involved with helping raise funds as part of TEAM BW/RADBMX.
Thank you. :) :Great_Britain:
-
Ok, I'm up for it and registered :D :crazy2:
-
was going to say it shouldn't take you 10 hours.. but then if you all insist on using burners that's probably about right ;D
joking aside though it's a great challenge and a great cause - hope you get good weather and the wind behind you :daumenhoch:
-
Quite surprised Paul is the only one to sign up on here, and he is 50% BW anyways. LOL :D
Anyone gonna take the plunge? We've got about a dozen over on BW with names down....... :4_17_5: :4_17_5: :4_17_5:
-
C'mon Radsters get signed up . this is going to be good . If you cant take part please help out with a little donation please dudes .

+1
I would love to do L2B but can't afford the travelling and time off work etc. I've bought the Gt Ormond St plates to use on BMXs for the Skyrides before but we need an iconic journey or destination really to raise funds. Is coast to coast realistic?
-
Nothing like a good thread hijack.... FOR THE KIDS DUDES................ :coolsmiley:
-
Is everyone gonna be sticking together on this? As I'm not sure I'd know the way otherwise, and I guess it would be very boring on my own!
-
The plan is to ride as a posse. ;)
-
Would be best to as you will need to keep each other motivated, it's funny how individuals flag at different times. As it'll be dark you dont want to get split up and lost :daumenhoch:
-
I run quite a bit, fairly long distances, so not worried about flagging, just want to stay with people as it would be a lot more interesting and fun than riding 58 miles on me todd!
How much do we need to raise individually? and how are the rest of you going about this? Also where are we starting and whats the route?
My Nan had Lung Cancer. my father in law had prostate cancer, and my wifes uncle has just had a tumor removed and her other uncle and aunt both also have had cancer in the past. My Dad worked with asbestos during his time in the Navy so thats also a worry in the future, suffice to say, I would like to do this!
-
Nevermind telling me the start time and place, I read the moonriders link!
-
We need to raise £300 each, plus registration for the ride which is £59. We have a pooled pot which is the link on the front page, so if one gets more and one gets less, as a team we will be covered. Some people are just raising their own funds though, but either way we will be doing it as a team. Main thing is to get signed up, we have a little over 3 months at the moment which will soon fly by. In the words of Horace: 'While we speak, envious time will have {already} fled. Seize the day, trusting as little as possible in the future.' :daumenhoch:
