Title: Half pipe
Post by: Darren KAP on May 13, 2012, 07:52 PM
My half pipe was finally finished on Saturday by a couple of  good friends of mine , the next stage will be a foam pit  :daumenhoch:
The ramp is a total length of 48 foot , 16 foot wide , there is also a  4 foot  wide platform at the top at each end  , i'm pleased with it , gutted i've had to work today so thought it would be best to leave the bike at home other wise i'd have got nothing done ,  my little lads loved it  , i didn't think they did too bad for 4 and 6 year olds :smitten: :4_17_5:

That's awsome, i'm not in to freestyle too much but to have that on your property must be hell of a buzz at lunch time. Don't know if i'd be too keen on having it near that spiked fence though.

Got all the info and measurements out of a BMX book , 6' foot transition etc so should be ok , we didn't just build it off the back of a fag packet  :LolLolLolLol: its better than what I had before ,,,,,,,, nothing  :LolLolLolLol:plus the local hospital is  only 3 miles away down the bypass  :LolLolLolLol:which im sure we'll be using at some point :LolLolLolLol:

.   cheers guys  :daumenhoch:

I'm in Yorkshire , a coping will be fitted but i was away when the guys had finished it , they were working off the drawings in an old BMX book which didn't show one on  :daumenhoch:

Was it the BMX Action Bike book from the 80s   I think you've missed a trick here Darren.

There's a wealth of knowledge right here on RAD you could have dipped into ... talking to fellas like TwoBobRob for example.. being able to have the combined wisdom of years of experience is what I think RAD is best at  :daumenhoch:

Whens Phase 2 of Kaplands coming then?  :)

Wish I had this ramp in my back garden (wish I had a back garden! :LolLolLolLol:)

I had a ramp in my parents garden that was made up of two quarter pipes, one two foot higher than the other, with no platforms and hardboard in the middle!  :LolLolLolLol:

build it, and they will come

but only if they get an invite.

good to know there are so many knowledgable ramp builders out there.
'
even better to know someone who hasnt done one before picked up an old school bmx book, on the back of getting back into old school bmx, and and thought 'foook it, why not'

then walked outside and did it.

cant wait to break my neck on it  :D

Oh well, it looks like right fun even if the flat bottom does look a bit long.

All joking aside though at least if it rains for 40 days and 40 nights you'll have something for the animals to go in 2 by 2 on.
