Ok so ive secured me self another tange cromo f&f and this time am going to see thru the hot heart conversion i was going to do with my other one...
What i would like is an accurate cuttout of the hot heart gussett so i can get it repped and tigged to this frame..
So any help with this one would be seriously appreciated..

Man, that's a lovely bike and a classic Tange frame. It's the same as the Kuwie Nova but with nicer welds on the drop-outs.
Seems a bit of a shame to weld extra bits onto it but hey it's your show ???

Yea its the same frame unless Im greatly mistaken and once rechromed should look fair..

Yes i realise the sacrifice ,,however as a personal project i feel i can do it justice and keep within an allotted budget as I've got all the bits to go on it already

Who is to say that this isnt a hh with the gussett cut out and then rechroned t by someone during its 30 years alive..afterall someone saw fit to replace the kashimax seat with that rank tiger skin one which is free to a good home ;)
I doubt that at 300 for his frame plus his powder costs djl would be up for much of a trade. As nice as that build is ...
Can't say I've seen any of the ccrmo hh up for grabs either...and i have been looking like...
When I've got this infront of me i may get emotional and not do a thing with .. But I've had three cromos so this forth may be in for zap from the tig ..
So id still like a hot heart stencil ..... Please ;)

F&f and cranks are all that's original on it :( and yea when i got the other frame i bought off here and mention on bw i was considering a hh conversion i beaten to death at the alterfor suggesting it as these tange frames are far superior than the later hh than turned up...
I do think this could be a real nice rep hh project , tho i can see how controversial it is 8)

The MK1 Cromo frame set is the 2nd best bike to have Raleigh decals on after the 'R' gusset MK1 :daumenhoch:
As said, it's your bike now but there is no turning back the clock on it. The MK1 is getting harder and harder to source as people realise what a great ride they are :(

I can get the gussett made and fitted for nothing and frame chrome is what 150? Given the insane prices people will pay for bikes and parts in whatever condition i believe this is a prime candidate to make a quality interpretation of a bike that Im after...
On the other hand if this is in really good nick then Ill have ponder about repping a kuwi nova or stick it alongside my other cromo ...
It is nice to hear you guys reservations on this project but Im pretty sure my visions for this bike would pay off ... For me anyway ..

+1 How many KZ2.5s out there are drilled out Hot Hearts? Not cool when they are being punted out as pukka E.T.s.
That Cromo burner does look very nice. I would also consider going down the trade option and putting your energy into another project.
Why not replicate the original Skyway 24" cruiser by buying a knackered T/A, then extending the tubing to create a replica of something super-rare and really desirable? Not a bike that nobody had really heard of until people (like sam :LolLolLolLol:) realised they were ringers for E.T's.
Could be awe-inspiring rather than tumbleweed-inducing?

FYI, a 1983 full cromo Hot Heart has a longer front end than a 1983 Nova.

My Metal man can easily once finalised have the template crafted and welded on neatly ready for the chromers....he also stated that IF I changed my mind then he could take it off and put it back to how it was... :crazy2: Hell if he can build a AC Cobra replica single handed then he can certainly forge me a Mk1.5 Tangmo BurnHeart :uglystupid2:

The last pic of the cuttout is taken from an actual trace someone sent me plus it marries up to a photo exactly ;)

The bike Im using is in need of a spray or a chrome coz at it sits now its a smoked colour I bought it thinking yea I can work with that bit it looks so dull now it's built up ... The metalwork will cost a tenner to make and weld coz hes a mate and if I get it powdered black then were talking 65 quid ... And the process is reversible in the event of a nostalgic change of heart ;)

only just read that you little rascal, i have never ever drilled out a hot heart, the ones ive owned and painted have only ever been original T2's ya little cheeky monkey! ;)

yerp, this he's cut by hand ...
went to see him today, it needs the heart top reducing a touch, the top "dip" evening out and the large curve "enlarging" a touch , its close tho as it is , looks good in hand...
Im stripping the bike tomoz and he reckons cld be done by monday . . . :coolsmiley:

Sugino 45t chainwheel in gold which complements the decal colours
Gold Kmc chain, waiting on a silver Izumi from 'quadders'
Suntour Broken arrow Stem all the way from Oz mate ( which hush hush is the refurbed top sat on a black Sr422 bottom until I can get the original Suntour base repaired properly )
