I collect scalextric stuff, I have loads in the loft, prices go up and down on ebay.

Working cars tend to sell for £5-£15 each if they are normal ones, boxed slightly more, anything rare can go for hundreds of pounds.

You will sell it all no problem on ebay.

Cool stuff Gaz  :daumenhoch:

I Think that Aston came in a set with the Vodafone CLK Merc , first pic , top left under the other car ..... I only noticed it as i have one i use on a set me and my mate bought a few years ago ... the merc is fast as hell and sticks like sh1t to a blanket , unlike the old cars when we were kids that spent all there time bouncing off the skirting boards  :D

Might be interested in the set these two cars came with if Hutchman passes  ;)

You can beat yer friends, you can beat the bends, but you can't beeeeeat SCALEXTRIC!
You can overtake and accelerate but you can't beeeeat SCALEXTRIC!
Real engine sounds when I'm changing down.. You can't beat SCALEXTRIC!
Turn on your lights, you can race all night.. But you can't beeeeeeat SCALEXTRIC"

or something like that.. I still find myself singing it from time to time  :D

:LolLolLolLol: at the old advert theme tune.

My Dad has a got a superb set-up in his conservatory (some of it my old stuff), on a board at waist height supported by the windowsills.

Just been there for his 65th this weekend and had a few Scalextric races with him, he's got a new start gantry light thing (not the old beige coloured one) and the carbon fibre effect lap counter and timer, he's built all these grandstands and even portaloos and vending machines  :LolLolLolLol: nutter!

I showed him this thread last night but he didn't spot anything he wanted at the moment. He knew all the sets and cars though. Great pics!  8)

He had a birthday "race" night with my rellies a week before I went home >:( and took out that chicane on the start finish straight cos he thought it would cause too many red-mist crashes  :LolLolLolLol:

He's now added this electronic start gantry, it's fantastic to watch the lights and hit the trigger on green! and he has the Dunlop bridge at the right hand side of the picture (just out of shot on the above pic).

In that pic above we were racing Le Mans style sportscars with lights. My old cars were a BMW and TR7 rallycross type, I also had the Police Rover with siren. We had a 76 McLaren (James Hunt job) and a Walter Wolf F1 car, he's got loads more cars now and has added the magnatraction strips to most of them (honestly the cars fly off all over the place much more often without them).

He's 65 and a bigger kid than me  :idiot2:

sounds like a great night Keith!  i remember i had the March 6 wheeler and the TR7s, got they handled rubbish!  loved my old BMX M3 though and my MKI escorts (black with gold stripes and biege with brown roof)  :daumenhoch:
Title: Re: Scalextric stuff
Post by: KeithyT on March 14, 2013, 10:18 AM
I was a bit obsessed with TR7s back in the day. I thought they were the coolest car ever, I had the Red one with blue and white stripes (true Brit   :Great_Britain:  ;) ) but you are right - rubbish handling. The BMW (white with green/orange bonnet and roof stripes) was much better.

I remember the Escort Mk1s (they also introduced those with lights I see to recall) and the 6 wheeler March (green and white?). Good times.  8)
