No objection from me!  :daumenhoch:

Mine's 983093, which Voris confirmed to be the 93rd bike made in Sep 1983. Hutchman, that would make yours the 48th that month. Voris also said that, "Frames were numbered as they came off the welding line. The next frame could have been a VDC or a Star or a National Pro. So the sequence doesn't tell you too much."

68301...... Does that mean what I think it means?!!!!!  "wantit"   Voris emailed me last yr to confirm its identity, I'll try find it. He also said they slightly varied,  depending on what bits of tubing they had lying about or if there was a specific customer requirement.

They were built for Graham Merry (Hotwheels) for anyone who doesn't know.

Scuse the Doris.........

There are already a few pics of mine in the museum section but here's a couple more:-

This is in complete survivor condition and hasn't been touched for about 8 years now. Will try to get round to doing something with it when I'm next back in :Great_Britain:  ;D

Title: Re: Trident register
Post by: Mikku on May 30, 2014, 07:18 AM
Another year and I've still done nothing with mine!  :idiot2:  I was originally planning on selling it but now I'm not so sure, given their rarity and that fact that it's only ever had one owner, namely me!! Plus it was and probably always will be the nearest I'll get to owning a Changa, and I do like the low-slung lines. In any case, my planned visit to the UK (& therefore MK) this summer has fallen through so the Trident is going to have to wait yet another year for some attention!!  :daumenhoch:

Dave,

Adrian is "Adiers" on here. The bike in question is on a F/B page. Looks nice. Would need a full de-chrome for show build as it's quite rusty.

Hey Adiers, is the decal in this pic a Trident one? In any case, what does the writing say?

Says the same on head tube and seat tube[devastating power]
Title: Re: Trident register
Post by: Mikku on April 22, 2015, 11:06 AM
Cheers! I've never seen that one before. When I bought my frameset (from Hot Wheels) it was decal-less but I was given a set of decals which I put on myself. Mine therefore has the same black ones that are on your downtube and forks plus some different-looking red, white and grey ones. Here are a couple of pics which show the latter ones on the headtube, the seat post and chainstay.

(http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m572/Trident393/Trident%20BMX/DSC02066.jpg) (http://s1132.photobucket.com/user/Trident393/media/Trident%20BMX/DSC02066.jpg.html)

I wonder if the red, white and grey ones were for a different model or just an earlier/later generation of decals? Interesting stuff! :daumenhoch:

Mine is 783276. It's still my favourite. Still working on the second gen decals. How many years?  yawn
Title: Re: Trident register
Post by: Mikku on May 08, 2016, 01:37 AM
So mine has a mix of first and second generation decals. Dave has been in touch with Matt Farrow who said that they (Hot Wheels) wouldn't have sold them with both sets, so that means they must have been put on by some other muppet:- that would've been me then! :uglystupid2:

I saw that one too, very nice.
I think not taking the wheels and handlebars off, putting the thing in a box and booking Paisley freight for 20 quid cost the seller a lot and missed a much bigger market.

Planes trains and automobiles to get here to me in Ireland, but well worth the wait, to say I love it is an understatement..
Have it cleaned up she looks like new now,  it's my first time on here says I can't attach photos as they are too large??

Great to see the thread revived. A couple of noteworthy points, the text on gen one decals is " A DEVASTATING FORCE".

Also if you can keep your eyes off Andy 68's Doris you will note the second gen headstock decal applied with a first gen on the down tube. OK so that's not knew but to me it looks black. BITD I only knew of red or blue second gen decals. Please confirm.

There are definitely more out there as I knew three other mates that had them, would be interesting to know how many were made.

Time to update that register Dave.

I wonder what the deal is with the mini I have? I never knew they made a mini. Anybody else ever come across a Trident mini?

On the subject of frame numbers.. anyone got any thoughts on production dates? ... maybe  July, August and September of 83 ?
Title: Re: Trident register
Post by: Mikku on March 03, 2020, 09:37 AM
Sorry Dave, for some unfathomable reason I missed this post! I think you're right with that. Voris confirmed that the 1st digit is the month, the 2nd and 3rd the year and the remainder the number of the frame made that month. So mine, yours and the others beginning with a 9 would have been made in Sept and I guess those beginning with a 7 would have been from July. I wonder if any were made in August or were they closed for the summer holidays? Or summer vacation, being the US of A!  ;)
