Title: 1984 Aero Reflex **FINISHED 08/07/16**
Post by: Retrodan72 on September 16, 2014, 08:00 PM: I've not built a freestyle bike for myself for about 18 months now, but thanks to Bretty, I've got an Aero Reflex to build.

They're not to everyone's taste and there's been some snobbery towards them, but it was the first bike I built when I found OSBMX again in 2008.

I was going to build a replica of the bike I did in 08, but thought that would be boring, then I thought about what I was riding back then and realised that with all 3 BMX's I had from 85-87, I'd messed about with the mad colours that came about then.

So, I've been looking at various part availability from various colours, and have bought a part, or parts as a start to the build.

So, I'm doing a Swan Gay build, based on a £10 part.

I'm not going all lav with this, I'm mixing in some white.

Parts so far:

Frame and forks (chrome)
Sharp lever grips (lavender)
Skyway EZII bars (lavender)
Tange MX2 headset (chrome)
44t Tuf Neck chainring (not sure what colour SBD will be doing it)
A'me Tri's (white)
DC seat clamp (white)

I'll take some pics, as and when I get more bits.

Keep your eyes peeked in the wanted section lads, I'll be hunting some parts soon.

Just reading this Rich I was thinking 'I'm not sure really, how this will turn out", I've been stressing like a :bellend: about colour balance, but in the last 10 mins, I've had an epiphany, and with Del and SBD's help, can really produce something a bit different.

NOS Dia Compe brake cable(front) dated 86, though no packaging......

I bought this Reflex f/forks of a fellow Radster just under 2yr's ago(frame was green, forks were white) the frame standers have been ground off. Before i bought it off him i asked if it was still chrome underneath and he said yes. Fooking liar :2gunsfiring_v1:, coz once i stripped it it was bare metal underneath :knuppel2:.

On a whim i had it painted lavender, but i think i'm gonna get it sprayed white in the future. They are a really great frame set, can't wait to see your's come together :popcorn:.

It wasn't mint like the boxed one I had, but not fooked in the slightest. It did however bear some storage marks, but for what I got it for (nothing) I was not going to complain.

So I decided to give it a bit of a polish, here's a few before pics...

was it about 6 years ago? (maybe longer) someone on here had a glut of them (20 odd nos f/f sets, maybe more) and they kindly off loaded them at £19 a set, them were the days :daumenhoch:

I fitted the headset and Tange locknut I got off Mat, the layback and SR stem that Dan powdered for me, and the seat I got off Wini.

Cheers Tommy, I think the shade of the bars will be less noticeable when built, they were NOS, so seems a shame to repaint them. :daumenhoch:

Post by: Retrodan72 on December 05, 2014, 01:28 PM: The pedals arrived from the States this morning, so fitted them along with the copy MX1000 (converted for Potts Mod) genuine Tuff pads, 44t Tuf Neck, powdered by Dan, and also a copy Tech 3 complete with Sharp lever grip (it was buying the lever grips that decided what colour to use)
