Post by: bmxband1t77 on October 14, 2014, 02:36 PM
Hi

Hopefully back in loft weekend. I've got a bit to dig out.
Yes helmet
Original Haro elbow savers
Arraya unspoked blue rims
Aero brake fender
Haro plate
'84 GT pro performer survivor exactly as I stopped riding around mid '90's.
83-4 PK ripper busted up n bent landing gear.

Oh and a load of BMX plus mags n the uk ones I think.

Also asked mum to dig out any rad pics for scanning up. I got loads at ROM even the Haro day when it tipped down. Some at Redditch and outside my house in Knowle. None I'd B'Ham wheels tho? Strange.

Well here it is. As top of thread the lining has perished completely turning to dust!
Hopefully someone knows where it can be relined?

I forgot how much I'd 'personalised' this too.

I have the same Yes helmet with the same crumbled foam lining. I got mine for a manikin display so wasn't too bothered  :-\

I'll have another look at it and see if I can make any suggestions  :daumenhoch:

Cheers. It'd be nice to wear it again just for show. Doubt it's safe anymore tho.

It was supposed to be Sid Salisbury's SE factory frame. He sold it to me while I was working in Rad City BMX Benfleet. He got a white n red Quadangle instead cos he's a lanky bloke. Still got the F&F  today but it's fooked...sniff

Tbh when I get time I've got loads of scanning to do after clearing out my loft.

Hopefully someone will help me get the skid lid back into use.

Cool lid, I had exactly the same one bitd. Maybe you could just literally glue some new foam in there? with spray adhesive?
Cool 1 handed endo too! one of my fave tricks!

Thanks. I dug it out for the Southend ride last Saturday but as you can see linings fooked.

Something Deeman said made me think ( pennies dropped)

I have a recent unused bell helmet ( the strap studs are rusty from daily commuter use).
So might look into easing out the high impact foam out of that n squeeze and glue it into the YES. Both helmets fit snug so like there's not alot in it.

Worth trying first.

Course it will only ever be worn for show. It's likely to crack after all these years.

Cheers guys.

I bought a few helmets one of which was a yes same as yours and yes foam was dust but cloth was intact and brushed it off washed in warm water in sink by hand it came up lovely then I replaced foam cheap as chips cut into Shape I've only taped into place so far till I work out what adhesive to use.isnt a rush job but is doable  :daumenhoch:

I threw my old Yes open face out back in 1997, along with my Oakley Goggles as the foam had completely deteriorated on both of them but I did keep the JT RAcing Mouthguard and Oakley Half Mask.  Then after I moved to Oz sometime in 2010 my mum called me and said she had found my first proper open face BMX helmet (the green Protec didn't count LOL!) in the loft at our old house.  I'm not sure of the make but the lining was in one piece, a little loose but ok and the high impact foam has seen better days but it's all in one piece.  I picked up a Haro Visor from Diesel (Dan) and found some Oakley Goggles on eBay...

Nice. Real nice that. Looks really clean too. Like the way the mouth guard mates with the visor.

Still hunting for that spare Bell helmet to rip out the lining.

The spare Bell helmet was put out for recycling.

Darn it.

Scuppered that plan. Would have worked too I'm sure. Oh well.

Well. Thinking about it. It might be worth getting Cheapo crappo skid kid to try easing out the foam into the YES.

Cool. Hope you find it!

Racing a Quadangle.

To me looks like you're running skinny wheels there? 1 3/8? B'Ham wheels team had a habit of running them.
