2015 will see the following anniversaries celebrated at the Cleethorpes Ride Out:
G*Y*P*O will be 20 years old. G*Y*P*O = Giving Young People Opportunities
This was set up in 1995 by some 80s ex-racers and skaters to help give the young folk of Grimsby & Cleethorpes somewhere to go and get them off the streets. They currently have a concrete skatebowl, some of the gnarliest trails in the UK and a 4 lane pump/race track. The work these guys put in is commendable and VOLUNTARY. All money raised during this ride will donated to this great cause.
1985 must go down as THE most famous GT Word Tour of all time. It spawned a whole new range of bikes and components for GT and made Eddie Fiola a household name. His flying banana was infamous but this tour brought us CANDY APPLE RED! A colour that still looks awesome and current today. Oh yeah, Dave Breed was there too :LolLolLolLol:
In 1980 Cleethorpes hosted the first national race, held at the old zoo, now Pleasure Island our start point (I don't just throw this shit together) with some familier names in attendance.
Lets celebrate these landmark occasions in the only style possible.

ride outs are not really my thing but this one is worth the trip , Nicks route is great not to far between refreshments and the turn out and vibe has always been great :daumenhoch:

OK, time to come clean.
Right now Eddie has agreed to come over for the ride and help us celebrate our anniversaries.
There are other things afoot too. Like a reunion for ex GT factory riders.
Contact me if you were one in the 80s and Gary Fenwick hasn't contacted you.
Triton, GT and Alan's are all involved too.
Because this year we are supporting the local youth charity G*Y*P*O the items kindly donated by these companies will be raffles. No it won't be a lottery style raffles. It'll be and fashioned you give me money I give you a ticket raffle. It will be drawn on the evening of the ride.
I did say it was going to be BIG! :LolLolLolLol:

It is our (myself and the organising committee) intention to try to gather as many GT Performers as possible at this event.
If they are carpet queens fear not, there will be a show & shine type affair before the ride where we will have a photo taken with them all and the man stood in front of them.
There will be time to stash them away before we depart.
Please try and bring yours along even if you're not intending to ride it.

Just spoken to Premier Inn, they are about to change their weekend policy to a two night minimum booking so if you're thinking of staying there get it booked asap. If you're coming solo and don't mind a bit rough and ready them here is cheap and on the route too: http://www.yell.com/biz/the-wellow-hotel-cleethorpes-4327990/

Just to clarify there will not be 600 people on this ride! :LolLolLolLol:
The list only has 250 on it, the G*Y*P*O jam has another 450 and is a completely different event that we are going to drop in on on the route. They have a bar and food stall there as well as bands and djs. So don't panic about being at the back of a 600 long line for a pint of love juice :daumenhoch:
