Sorry to ask, but someone needs to be first. Will there be an MK this year? Just trying to arrange things, and it had been announced at the beginning of January last year. Really hoping it happens this year. I enjoy it more year on year
-
We're looking into it.....
Logistically though it takes people to make it happen and that's an area we're lacking in at the moment.
-
Glad to help in any way if I can :daumenhoch:
-
That's what makes it happen.
As soon as we're firm on the date we'll let you know.
-
If I can assist in any way please just let me know.
-
I'm happy to get involved too. That includes taking a trip to MK the week before if needed with a few petrol strimmers and rakes to cut and clear that grass. It was a big issue last year and really put a downer on it for those who couldn't get on the helipad. Even the verge to the left of the access track was out of commission. Not RADs/MK bmx clubs fault i know, as the other field was the responsibility of the moto crossers. I doubt the council would cut the grass, so it's probably down to us. Anyway, i'm happy to do my bit

Great thinking Andy, and a worthy suggestion :daumenhoch:
-
Unfortunately the roulette wheel of "what date can we go on holiday" gets spun by my missus as soon as we get the dates for the end of term, so my July / August holiday has been booked since last year - I just cross my fingers and hope I can make it :-\
There seems to be some stuff going on in the background at Rad at the moment - is there some reason you've asked this Andy, or is it just a general enquiry ???
-
As you know I have a toe in the water so to speak with making/supplying the fire drums, if you need me to do more I'm happy to do so :daumenhoch:
-
I'll turn up and get rid of some ale, if this helps. :daumenhoch:
-
I'm happy to help too . Be good to meet all the keyboard warriors .
I missed last year due to work but I'm looking forward to this year

Bit of both to be honest Spen. Last years MK was announced on 5th Jan, but there had been a few mumblings prior to then. Heard nothing at all regarding MK this year, so someone had to be first to ask. Another reason is that Mrs DTTDB was watching tv last night that i wasn't interested in, so thought i'd have a good long session on :radbmxsmilie: and the museum. Saw a few comments in the Jan botm thread that didn't make sense, went onto facebook and watched the sparks fly there. Got me asking a few questions in my head, one being MK, as i love it and really want it to happen this year. I've offered to help in any way i can. Other radsters seem keen too which is supurb. Goes to show what a great community we have here, despite the odd troubles that occur from time to time. :radbmxsmilie: forever :4_17_5:
-
I think the way this issue on BOTY goes will decide the future of rad and MK . MK cost money and if people don't support the site it won't happen . skint 1
Let's see if we can make rad great again :4_17_5:
-
I'd like to think that Rad is strong enough to survive whatever's going on behind the scenes.
I'll repeat what Andy said in terms of offering to do anything to help make MK16 happen.
Happy to give up time and energy in whatever form it's required ... Yep happy to go and cut that grass or lend my services in whatever way is needed.
I absolutely love MK and it's got better for me year on year.
We've got to work this out and move forward.
-
Of course MK will happpen......it might just be a few people camping in a field next to a BMX track but it will happen :daumenhoch:
-
Like how it used to be then rob and just as enjoyable
Bring a tent and gazebo for your bikes and have a good weekend catching up with mate 👍
-

If it's 20, 200 or 2000 people it'll be great :)
-
Exactly guys :daumenhoch:
-
:daumenhoch:
-
I'm sure we can make MK happen :daumenhoch:
-
Loving the positivity
-
MK 16 will be decided on by the owners and mod team we have just lost 2 of them . Who pretty much made the event happen and spent months arranging it and organising every aspect
You can see why the rad team is sad and as such will be looking to see if MK is viable this year
-
If it happens, then great, if it doesn't, then I'm £200 richer and can spend the weekend with my Wife and Daughter
-
There has been a massive decline in SST . Thats what determines if MK happens or not
We have many members with many different trades . There is nothing the members arrange .
-
Could do a 'Glastonbury' and take a year off.
Arrange it then Craig, let us know the dates :daumenhoch:
-
you wont be invited
You dont like my sh!t collars "wantit"
-
True.....oh well ;D
-
I'm sure that all us Radsters will do all we can to make something happen....
I'm happy to do whatever it takes and I'm sure many others feel the same way.
Like Benno and Andy and Rob have said .. It don't matter if it's only 20 people it would still be Rad and still be great.
-
Exactly what i said but rob just wants to be smart .

and your shitter..

As always I am always glad to help.

Milton Keynes is pretty central to all isn't it ,I would like to try and organise something down this way but I understand it would be difficult for a lot of our fellow members that live at the other end of the country mk is an awesome event
as spen said my missus has already expressed an interest in holidaying I have the first two weeks in august booked I missed last year due to holiday
so I would really like to go this year

I'd be happy to help with this :daumenhoch:
-
Nice one Lee. Looks like there's a good number of people willing to lend a hand. Not a glamorous job, but if it makes things better for everyone, then well worth it :daumenhoch:
-
We can do what we did the first year, show up and pitch up, anyone in contact with Stevie V ?
-
Very true Pete. It don't need all that other bollox.
Back to basic is good with me 😎
-
Us old codgers don't like change lol....I remember telling people after they asked what it was like with the early ones.....I said imagine a field and a load of blokes having a chat about bikes....and having laugh....sums it up

What's happened here? Is there a thread saying what's going on or is it all behind the scenes.
Last year was my first ever MK, and I loved it.
-
I will state now this .
I will haul my collection and show as normal. Over pay to show and shine ::)
Tidy and clear up after all the shinanigans.
I will volunteer to judge Show and Shine as I enjoyed it so much last year .
I will do my Bar man bit and train the staff as last year in the Dog and Duck ::)
Bang some beer and snacks behind the bar.
The Jeiger Meister shot runs will be increased this year as it was great fun and raised good funds for this years MK :daumenhoch:

Good man Steve :4_17_5:

Or just make helipad enclosure SST only and let the rest camp in the long grass hardly fair there were plenty of non SST camping in style whilst others who helped pay for the weekend struggling in the long grass
That will never happen, as it's impossible to police, and pleas issued by the RADmins are completely ignored, a bit like asking people not to arrive on the Friday.
When did you show up last year Mr Johnson? ??? ::) :LolLolLolLol:
-
Ahhhh the whole Friday thing, you could as people not to arrive till 6pm and you'd still get people arriving at 2pm.
Its one thing Site supporters turning up but it takes the piss when people who aren't even members of the site turn up at 11am telling you they've spoken to the council and been told they can come down.........not confrontational at all.

Ah, John Lewis.
May as well name him, he's not a member, so won't see it.
But at least all the SST holders that are FB friends with him, will appreciate the lack of respect he has for the forum, and those who run it.
-
Actually I do remember there being an issue it was mentioned at the lake on Friday night

He did make a big apology on the Saturday (in the Dog & Duck) & promised it wouldn't happen again.
He's not the only one that's ignored requests not to turn up early though
-
fair enough John, I wasn't party to 'the big apology' but fair do's :daumenhoch: and yes you're right, what about the car full that had never even heard of the web site RADBMX  :idiot2:
-
Agreed with the whole Friday thing, it's been getting worse over the last 2 or 3 years. Invite only with a ticket, no ticket no entry past the barrier. I don't know how it can be policed though.

It can't be policed like that with tickets unfortunately
Basic manners should stop people taking the piss and being disrespectful
Not everyone has manners nowadays though

Very much so, in theory a nice idea in reality impossible. And more often that not those with the lack of manners are first in the Dog .
Really looking forward to this year, only taking one bike so I can ride around all weekend without having to worry about other bikes.
-
There should defo be a SS wrist band of sorts for the DnD bar though, drinks wise, the rest, a nice donation... 😉
-
I was 1 last year I must confess, but having driven through the night 5 hrs the year before that I ended up sleeping all day missed the lake ride and pretty much ruined it for me so decided to set off on the Friday with the sole intention of trying to park it up somewhere til sat morning but drove past saw it open came down and Nick kindly let me in, there was no forthought in it. However if it's got people's back up I'm sorry and any advice on where I can park my quite large bus let me know n if it's not able to get on the helipad it'll get stuck in that long stuff for sure

Totally agree with this, last couple of years we've rocked up between 07.00 and 07.30 to find the only option left is pitching the tent out in the boonies. Speaking as a site supporter for the last 4 years (since I stumbled upon the site), I'm not fussed about being on the helipad but it would be great if we had a bit of flat land to show on too... Other than that MK gets better every year so roll on August!! :4_17_5:
-
Speaking as a site supporter for the last 4 years
not suggesting that anyone should feel compelled to get one either btw

I would have course recommend it - I think anyone who's been to MK will have a decent idea of where the SST money goes :daumenhoch:

thought you weren't going Rob?
after a few years of hotels I had considered camping as well - the memory of the sun blazing through my tent and partially cooking my wretched, hungover body has almost faded away now

didn`t you got pulled by the cops last year for riding back to the hotel pissed or was that someone else ?

:LolLolLolLol: no that was Wini ;D
-
:LolLolLolLol: no that was Wini ;D
No, it was Matt Swivel, he got picked up in a lane heading towards Newport Pagnall. :LolLolLolLol:
Wini ended up in MK town centre, so got a taxi to "the Hotel by the lake", except the Taxi Driver took him to the Hotel on Caldecott Lake, not Willen Lake. :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:
-
:2funny: I knew Wini did something.....jesus what a pair ;D
-
Ffs I was so smashed, the rozzers said at 3 in the morning where are you going, I said to the BMX track, lol their faces, I was all over the place. Luckily they escorted me back lol
