I'll stick this up for people to add to as I'm sure I will leave loads of useful stuff out, but for all those who will be popping their MK cherries and for those that like me, suffer from old timers and just need a memory jog here are some MK essentials :daumenhoch:
Please bring some rubbish bags with you for your empties and general rubbish
Please bag up your own rubbish and put it in one of the skips provided
Bring toilet paper with you, as they run out very quickly.
Bring baby wipes, there are no showering facilities
If you are planning on entering the Show n Shine on Sunday, bring a bike stand for your bike.
If you plan on riding the track, you must use a helmet and also gloves and pads are recommended
The gates will open at 7am on Saturday morning
If you are coming and bringing your lovely dog with you, please make sure you clean up after it and please don't let it roam around.
There will be a food van but it's recommended that you bring food with you, or pop down to Tesco down the road.
Above all though, come and enjoy yourself, bring as many of your bikes as you can fit in your van or car.........RAD builds some of the best bikes in the world of OS BMX and this is your weekend to show them off in person.........there's nothing better than seeing them in the flesh :daumenhoch:
Please feel free to add to this guys with everything I've forgotten ;D
-
Good call Rob. I've taken a screen shot of this as a reminder.
Also can I add... you must bring a smile. Without one you'll look underdressed. With only 9 whole days to go I'm permanently wearing mine already.
-
I won't be taking food, as the caterers have been brilliant for the last couple of years
I will be bringing beer and some salty snacks for the Dock and Duck (every little helps!)
Spare cash for raffle tickets/goodies/beers in the hotel
Lube optional
-
Great thread Rob ....
I'd say bring as much cash as you can and bring any of your spare or unwanted parts to sell too... I love going round looking for parts each year :daumenhoch:
Not essential but Andy always brings some cable and padlocks just in case we want to leave the bikes and go for a wander 8)
Most people are good eggs ( and trustworthy ) by the way and will watch your stuff if you want to/need to go off
-
Lots of water and suntan lotion :-)
Helmet and pads to ride the ramps :-)
Cash to buy raffle tickets and the RADMAG 'zine ... and parts from the myriad sellers :-)
Camera to take pics of all the dope rides :-)
Dancin' shoes :-)
-
Lots of water and suntan lotion :-)
good shout
maybe a hat if it's really hot
and possibly a folding chair to sit on for when you get 'tired'
-
I'm lucky as I've been invited to join Andy and Ant, so I've sent Andy some funds and he will do a big shop for our camp and also some token beers for the Dog & Duck, so I only need to take:
Sleeping bag
Clothes (for a heatwave or a monsoon)
Bike tools and inner tubes
Toiletries
Imodium Extra (to take after my Saturday morning poo at the Hotel, and to tighten everything up for my stay at the campsite)
Nurofen (at MK13, I started drinking at 8am on the Sat, had a hangover at 4pm, a banging head on the lake ride wasn't fun)
Jack Daniels
I agree with Griff on the food front, it's been superb the last 2 years, so looking forward to their Peri Peri chicken burgers again.
Cash is coming with me, but I'm in a strict 'NO BIKE PARTS' policy, it will be for mug/sticker/banner, raffle tickets, honesty jar at the D&D, and inflated price Hotel ale.
-
Suntan lotion is a must for the gingers :smitten:
I'd upgrade Nufofen to something stronger to be honest ... I swear by Imigran or Boots own version ... you only get 2 pills for £8 but boy do they sort you out fistblump
-
Torch.
-
Emulsify cream..

Some great tips lads :daumenhoch:

The roast of sherwood is back this year
They love the event and we love their food
I will have a menu up in the next day or so but the hand, are burgers are a staple as is the brown sugar BBQ chicken breasts
They will be doing breakfast on Saturday morning for your arrival and the coffee is back to cheap rather than lattes and cappuccinos for all the people who moaned about that last year
Thanks

This is great news Rich, particularly if you're partial to having your face stroked by a man that cooks pigs.

Some great tips here, and thanks for a fine update Rob :4_17_5:

There will be marshals this year advising people where to park, but I imagine it will be something like this (see below). Can we PLEASE organise ourselves into neat rows. This is required for health & safety reasons to allow vehicle access to both fields. It will also allow campers to show off their amazing bike collections and sell items in clear rows, by making it easy to navigate for those wandering round the site on foot. Mods/admin, please contact me if you want this post removing and/or the map changing. Thanks :)

Cool Joffy, you're in our camp, just be careful where you step when you get out of the tent in the middle of the night for a wazz, you know what I'm like? Hopefully the Imodium will have kicked in by then, so there'll be less chance of a Mersey goldfish showing it's face.

:LolLolLolLol: Think the problem might arise when i try and find the tent in the early hours of Sunday morning :D :crazy2: Maybe hang one of your socks on the door Dan ???

Not THE sock? Who has it at the moment? Is it going to MK?

Yes, unless Tony forgets

Quick question. What time can we get on site Sunday morning. Ta

If you're specifically arriving on Sunday morning, then you can get in at Midnight on the Saturday, but watch out for casualties wandering around trying to find their tents as you drive in.
I'm joking of course, the entire event starts as soon as the gate opens in Saturday morning at 7am. :daumenhoch:
-
Luuuvely. Thanks for the info. :daumenhoch:
-
Just to add what some of the other boys have said if your bringing stuff to sell bring a blanket or sheet to stick in the ground car boot style, and don't forget to have a look round at everyone else's stuff. Some cracking bargains to be had at MK.
