Last year went very smoothly thanks in no small part to loads of people helping out
There's been quite a bit sorted already for this year's MK but we can always try and improve
So, if there are any ideas you have on how we can make this year's the best ever please feel free to post your suggestions below, while we still have a bit of time on our side :daumenhoch:
-
I think it should be SST holders only on the heli-pad. Was a little disappointed to get refused entry last year only to find two non members camped out in there... what's that all about. ???
-
I've got an idea I'd like to put forward..

Circulation is always a problem. The lower field traditionaly always suffers from a lack of visitors and even the helipad seemed quite last year. I dont know the solution and maybe the special guests encouraged people to stay around the marquee area more last year but it would be great to somehow stretch the event beyong the marquee area.
Would love to see Bob, Eddie, Mat, whoever just cruising round saying hello and looking at peoples stands/stalls
Maybe it is what it is and peeps just need to get out more :D

old school flatland comp?

go on then, would love to hear about it :teef:
old school flatland comp?
would need some room, but could be a good crowd puller to the helipad if there was enough room?
also would need to know if it's still got slabs on it!

I reckon it would be great fun for spectators and competitors alike! I don't mind helping to organise it.... :daumenhoch:
If the helipad is not usable the flat in between the ramps would probably suffice....
-
Can just see one tiny issue with using the bit between the ramps ;D

More Site Supporters getting involved with anything small or large so they get the vibe and make it lighter work for everybody :daumenhoch:

The helipad is extremely slippery. The amount of crashes I've seen on there over the years cannot all be blamed on beer!

I will have a look after work in the next few days

myself, matti hemmings, gary hodges did have a flatland sesh infront of the ramps last year but was busy dodging ramp riders and floor not the best.
didn't try the helipad but if slidy can be workable with a mop and a bottle of coke.

Keeping hold of em for a min, if there is "special" special guests no bugger will be wandering around & my time would be better spent helping out elsewhere 😝

The jump comp went down well at mk15 ? :daumenhoch:
-
Flatland jam on the tarmac ramp area can be sorted out. I'd like to see more organised stuff in 'my' area. I have a small PA also, so let's set a day & time window and get it on. I love flatland.
Long jump contest is also no problem. The ramp was there last year but nowt got organised. I'd build a slightly larger one for this year if the demand is there.
-

I understand your frustration Nick. Hopefully we can make it fairer this year for some of the rad (forum) regulars/supporters
-
I'm happy to help arrange the car parking again this year, including putting up barriers/signs and directing people.
I have a good speaker with integrated amp and microphone that we can use for the prize giving announcements on Sunday afternoon (as long as we still have an electricity supply at that point)
-
Not sure if this has been said already, maybe big notice board with whats going on, where and times..
Fooking gutted missed the long jump last year, really wanted to wup benoooooos ass to... explosion
-
I'm useless at flatland but love to watch and like the idea of a noticeboard so I can plan beer refills :daumenhoch:

Hopefully it'll all be in the Radmag this year ... So it's a program of events as well as a cool read explosion
-
I do not know how you can make it better but I can, perhaps, suggest how to make it more popular?
I have never been to a MK event, I am hoping this will be my first. Please do not forget people new to the event, drop in visitors or the curious.
-
In all honesty the only way you can make it better, is by YOU making it better.
I know that sounds a bit weird but what I mean is, it's as good as you make it........The guys all work their arses off to sort it all out and put on stuff.....So turn up and join in, speak to people, ride your bike, have a few beers and just enjoy.
But don't pull brake levers or twist bloody grips ;D

As Rob says it's pretty bloody near perfect already ... Anyone who's been knows this
It's the people who make it and most people who attend are on the whole are, to use an Americanism, "good people" :daumenhoch:
It's the highlight of the year for me ... It's no coincidence that Andy and I were amongst the last to leave late Sunday last year :)

You're far from being a newbie now Peter ;)
Even if you turn up by yourself just make yourself known and you'll soon find you're talking to people you already know
Try and make the whole thing, you'll kick yourself if you turn up Saturday and have to leave as the Dog & Duck's just getting going!

It was in the mag last year Ant, unfortunatly only read it once back at home. ........ on a notice board in the main area would be much better as you loose rack of time as well, with so much going on... well mainly chatting..lol
-
A few more toilets if it's within the budget. Can't think of anything else.

Don't think there was a comp last year Tone , deffo was in 15 but not last year
PS challenge accepted , you better get on the redbull to get some wings 👍🏼
-
we had the long jump ramp out.......
Will have to get a louder announcement out this year!
-
We did both the bunny hop and long jump comp last year, was a good laugh :daumenhoch:
-
Boom... there it is.... it was a really good crack both long and bunny hop jumps at mk 15. Beno the gloves are down.... lol ;D
-
Maybe back hop, front hop contest? More riding would be great.
-
More people riding bikes... around the site, on the ramps, on the track, an old school flatland jam would be cool.
High jump and long jump being run for 'Over 35s' and 'Under 35s'
Dog owners clearing up dog shit.
People drinking responsibly, not to excess.
Sunday having less of a hungover vibe ( see above )
Work out who is going in the Helipad field in advance and issue invites ... prolific collectors? SST? whatever ... but make sure it is PACKED. There was no vibe in there last year as entry was too restricted IMO.
Thats all for now.
-
I'll try not to be in the Sunday hangover brigade this year Ed. There were a few of us sat round our camp on Sunday afternoon that were a bit worse for wear.
I agree about the helipad. I was one of the fortunate ones who were on it, but it did seem very quiet. I understand the need for adequate health & safety, including easy/emergency access, but i think there would be enough room for a circle of people on the outside, and another tight around the helipad with a wide access area between the two :)

I'd cut the grass.
It can get jungle like outside of the Helipad.
-
It has just been made better by the list of LEGENDS attending .. explosion
-
May be this has been said before, most certainly, but can someone with a steady hand and editorial experience record the event and the bikes? Post it on YouTube. I would love to do it but I am techno illiterate. I often search for old school vids and want more. I especially want more bikes! Splice it with lager but more bikes.

Something like this?
-
If possible , can you skip Saturday and start it all on Sunday as I can't get there until then?😂
Agree with Nick on the Helipad thing 100% 👍
-
Last year the Mid School was mainly gathered around the Hoffman tent/display, this year is there anything else to the same sorta tube? I'm not suggesting Hoffman again but maybe another brand which hit it big within that era? S&m standard etc,,,
Or will there be somewhere to possibly share our bikes rather then just riding about in them? Show and shine is a great idea and raises money and I'm not looking to put a downer on that but some of us I'm sure would like to display our bikes without having to complete or have the shiniest stuff there, happy to stick some money in the bucket and raise funds and whatever else so that's not an issue

Can we do a session with one of the pros and the kids (under 16's) give the next generation some inspiration?
Henry spent some time with Martin at Cleethorpes this weekend and is more stoked than I've seen him for a while...
I'm sure there are loads of kids that would join in, maybe early on Saturday or Sunday when hangovers are being nursed?
