Title: 1984 Yes Titan TX Turbo
Post by: Funkyworm on March 02, 2017, 06:49 PM
Ok so I picked this F&F up just before Christmas from Ebay, Im generally  not in to Race bikes really & rarely build them but this was one I'd always fancied doing as I always loved the adverts back in the day & always thought the products look great ....

You couldn't open a page in Action bike from 83-85 without seemingly seeing a Yes helmet in any of the Photo shoots but to my surprise I could find little or no information online about the brand, So I did a bit of research scanned loads of magazines & put together a Facebook reference page with all of the information i've collated.   https://www.facebook.com/YESBMXUK/

Yes BMX UK was a British based BMX Bike Apparel Helmet & Accessory company who also distributed the Suzuki BMX collection in the UK.

Yes seemingly entered in to the BMX market in 1983 Based In Lynchford Rd, Farnborough, Hants, England. Their bikes were predominantly made in Taiwan by the Akisu & Lungi Bike factories but supply was seemingly inconsistent so there appears to be lots of inconsistencies in the models & frame sets by the looks of things as they used some generic frames which were branded up (Yes).

Yes also had a very aggressive sponsorship programme becoming especially prevolant in the UK race scene. They sponsored not only individuals but teams themselves & making Helmets & then race gear for these teams before moving in to making Bikes & Accessories under the Yes brand.

The Yes BMX Bike range tended to differ in spec from the what was actually seen magazines as mentioned above but consisted of the following models:
1983/4:
Competition
Supergold
Aero
Cruiser 2400
Turbo

1984 /5:
Titan TX Mini
Titan TX Triton
Titan TX Pro +
Titan TX Turbo
Titan TX Dominator
Titan TX Freestyle

The top of the range race Bike the (TX Turbo) was also available as just a frame set along with the ( The Dominator) which was a frame only, option the design of which was influenced by Team rider Harvey Munkton & was based upon the geometry of the Hutch Pro model of the time that he'd previously raced before coming onboard with the Yes set up.

Anyway heres the build, it's also in this months BOTM competition ... Hope you like it :daumenhoch: :Great_Britain:

Very nice indeed. I only lived a few miles from 'City BMX' as it was called (Motorcycle City jumping on the BMX bandwagon) and we were over there a lot as it was close to the skate/BMX ramps in Farnborough. I've got a Yes helmet and badge somewhere but despite living in the area most of my life up to 10 years ago I never scored a bike.
