Title: Inner tubes
Post by: Monk_Wally_Honk on April 06, 2017, 11:41 AM
Anyone used slime filled inner tubes?

I'm using the OM as a commuter in London and wondered if they work and if there's any downsides.

Any other thoughts on tubes. Baring in mind the wheels are 26".

Forget about the tubes, tyres with puncture protection is the way to go  :daumenhoch:

Pair of these, tan wall as well   :daumenhoch:

1.50 would be better for commuting as faster less rolling resistance.

They don't look bad. Might try them when I need new tyres.

It was more to keep in my bag just in case - tubes, set of alan keys and spanner and my sandwiches.

I bought some slime inner tubes for my rider BMX....buy haven't really ridden it yet. I fitted the tyres and tubes and pumped them up but had to deflate them shortly afterwards to change the rims...upon deflation my mate nearly got a bit of green slime in the eye much to his shock!!
Those Schwalbe city jets mentioned above are great tyres  :daumenhoch:

Do the slime filled tubes make much difference weight wise? think I'll order one today to keep on me as a spare and I need a decent multi tool thingy as well.

Then once the current tyres get knackered I'll try the city jets.

If it's for a spare tube I would just get a couple of tescos ones.

Tube, multi tool, levers and a CO2 cannister is really all you need, a pair of latex gloves are handy too.

Another good commuter tyre is the Schwalbe Big Apple 26x2.0 raceguard version, fast & tough. Pretty fat tyre though so need to check clearance.

I got the Schwalbe big on my 29er and the slime as fed up with punctures.
The only draw back is the slime will settle at the base of the tubes if left for some time giving you a pendulum effect at first till it settles if you know what I mean.
No problems since.
I got mine from m and p motor bike shop on ebay at a reasonable price.  :daumenhoch:
