Title: Raleigh Aero Pro burner
Post by: In2bmx on April 11, 2019, 01:41 PM
Got the bug back and an itch to scratch  :)

Always fancied an Aero Pro .. Customer came in2 my work and saw my bikes and said
" I've an Aero Pro with a few parts , it's been stood in the shed  for 30 years "

£50 later , yes £50 for F&F, Bars , Seat post , headset and i've another bike to build  :)

The chrome is a bit shot so it will be having a re chrome. Also need to get the stem shaft out of the forks .

The stickers have arrived and i've a few parts arriving soon  :daumenhoch:

You nearly have all the parts already! there was a decent set of aero rims on eBay a couple of days ago £50 i think (if you didn't fancy the refurb) and the Tange grips come up all the time.

Coming together nicely Carlos.

Does it feel strange buying basic Tange/Sugino parts, when you’re used to getting things like Reedy pedals and Campy hubs?

Carl, I’ve gone to the museum section and copied a pic of Ant’s AP, it’s a beauty and perfect for a reference

haha . It’s a lot easier finding Tange and Suginio parts  :D and a lot cheaper .

Only a few more parts needed .

I always fancied building an AP as well but never got my hands on one at the right time. This looks like a fun one Carl. Great to see it getting some love and coming back to life

Not good news .  :-\

Picked this up today after being stripped for new chrome .
It’s been stood for 30 years and it’s pitted everywhere  :-[ . It will looked shite if re chromed .

So I’m going to do it in team pro colours .
And look for a chrome F&F for the parts I have .

+1! Just thinking out loud here Carl, but what about doing something a bit different like moza's black 24" ProClass 'goose? Then you could use the parts you've been gathering for the chrome build. The decals too! :daumenhoch:

Like double-decker buses these APs! Now there's an idea - a red AP!!

I like the tange-made Burners, but fooking reflectors have no place on a BMX

I think the differences between the early AP’s and the later ones, were the bars (V’s / Straight), levers (Tech 2 / Tech 3) and the chain guard (with / without). Maybe grips as well but not 100% sure on that. Where’s Glynn & Dave when you need them ;)

Thanks Paul,
Well i have the straight bars and tech 3's and it's staying that way.  :LolLolLolLol:

I think there were 83 stamped frames that came with the later straight bar spec so it’s all good Carl
